punk_sk (November 5, 2009)

i will leave this

crayZsaaron (November 5, 2009)

Ugh.

A cover of Nervous Breakdown by Black Flag

It was enough to make me stop listening. I'm fine with some kinds of folk music, but this is almost country.

TheMike (November 5, 2009)

Heh, I kind of like this, to be honest.

Patron (November 5, 2009)

God forbid!

TheOneTrueBill (November 5, 2009)

I own that Clash tribute that the Indigo Girls song came from. So, so bad.

Hasheesh (November 5, 2009)

Yeah that comp was pretty bad for the most part, but that Indigo Girls cover is incredible.

14theroad (November 5, 2009)

Lisa Loeb? Haha no thanks.

david_arquette (November 5, 2009)

J. Mascis doing Wipers is fucking sweet. That's all.

TheOneTrueBill (November 5, 2009)

Poison Idea doing the Wipers is great too.

The Wipers also. My band was supposed to try out a Wipers cover at one point but then we gave up because we realized in just how bad we were in comparison.

david_arquette (November 5, 2009)

What Wipes song does PI cover and where? Really interested in hearing that.

What's your favorite record of theirs? Over the Edge for me, but their best song is "Telepathic Love".

baldsteve (November 5, 2009)

I'll give it a shot if for nothing but Walter Schreifels track

Michael_Berryman (November 5, 2009)

this and Mascis.

Cos (November 5, 2009)

Quicksand's version of "How Soon Is Now" is one of my favorite covers of all time.

ChadReligion (November 5, 2009)

Reason #215 to never go to Florida again

happynolucky (November 5, 2009)

thats fucking horrible

stickystyle (November 7, 2009)

Florida is the piece of shit hanging off the ass of the united states. You know the one that just hangs there and doesn't want to pinch off.

Dante3000 (rich) (November 5, 2009)

So it's just a compilation of tracks available on various releases from various artists...and this is news how?

ExtraCheesePizza (November 5, 2009)

But, but, Chumbawamba covered Mannequin by Wire 15 years ago. Cool, right?

CrankWillDestroy (November 5, 2009)

Can't decide if I should shell out $25 to see Immortal Technique in the east bay tonight...
decisions, decisions..

sugarfull (November 5, 2009)

Fuck yeah!

CrankWillDestroy (November 5, 2009)

I just might!

SouthernLovin (November 5, 2009)

How is this a question? Of course you should. You won't be let down, dude puts on a hell of a show. He did some really fuckin cool freestyles for about a third of the set when I saw him.

CrankWillDestroy (November 5, 2009)

I know, I've seen him 3 times at least but $25 seems a little steep and I'd have to drive.
I'm not broke yet but $25 for Immortal Tech?
Shit...

Cos (November 5, 2009)

Mannequin has always been my favorite song by Wire. The cover isn't too shabby.

Brett-NOLA (November 5, 2009)

Punknews.org has survived for 10 years without pop-up ads. The ones that I'm seeing on this web-site right now (Nirvana-Bleach) are some of the MOST OBNOXIOUS that I have seen anywhere on the internet.

There is no reason to have this shit on punknews.org.

party-animal (November 5, 2009)

Agreed

party-animal (November 5, 2009)

I'm sure Kurt Cobain would much rather be rapping in Rock Band than being drawing the ire of real music fans.

ChokingVictim (November 5, 2009)

seriously, those things are soooo fucking annoying. worst decision by staff ever.

MilesQToast (November 5, 2009)

I love them.

miniblindbandit (November 5, 2009)

i blame the summit.

also

firefox + adblock plus.

punk_sk (November 5, 2009)

what does the summit have to do with pop up ads?

veganboyjosh (November 5, 2009)

traffic there goes up, traffic here goes down, ads here go pop-up.

miniblindbandit (November 5, 2009)

i was joking by saying punknews is losing so much traffic that they have sell more adspace. i don't think the summit siphons off that much though.

SkolarX (November 5, 2009)

no mention that frank turner is one of the folk acts, sort of funny

CrankWillDestroy (November 5, 2009)

What is this nirvana ad everyone speaks of?
I have adblock plus

elliot (November 5, 2009)

Wow, who knew "Pay to Cum" could actually sound lovely all slowed down and acoustic? Makes me more interested in Frank Turner.

TEF (November 5, 2009)

Chumbawamba is on this list? I'm a little confused...

SouthernLovin (November 5, 2009)

Why are you confused?

TheMike (November 5, 2009)

They've been a folk band for a long time, now.

madomen (November 6, 2009)

Truly this is crap

Mikeage85 (November 6, 2009)

i threw up a little
