In Memoriam: Matthew Arluck of Sweet Cobra (1969-2009)

Mat Arluck of Sweet Cobra, Horace Pinker, Crash Course and Stabbed By Words passed away on November 26th due to complications from his fight with cancer. He had been in and out of care for the past several years.

His bandmates in Sweet Cobra said this:

We were definitely a lucky bunch of guys to have him join our band. He's one of the most honest and amazing people we've met, We've learned a lot from him. We're just thankful that we had him for the time that we did.

Our condolences to his friends and family.

sweet cobra was pretty, well, sweet.

for me, saying "RIP" is like saying "bless you" when someone sneezes -- pointless. but death is never good, so, i dunno. RIP. glad you were alive.

I saw Horace Pinker back in 1994 with 30 Foot Fall in Corpus Christi.

I actually met him when he was on tour w/ Deminer in 2000 in Lubbock TX. He was totally nice and cool despite the very lackluster turnout. I think Mat's guitar work on "Pop Culture Failure" and "Copper Regret" are superb. I throw "Second Best" and/or "South Stanley Place" on every mix cd I make. R.I.P. dude.

Matt was a pretty good friend of mine. We skated a ton of spots in San Jose, back in the 80's /90's..Hung out with the same crowd. He even got me to sack up enough to get in the pit back in 1985 for the first time. Though he pushed me in...Thanks Buddy..

We lost contact for quite a while, and thanks to Myspace, & Facebook, we started talking again last year. I never knew he was sick. I thought something funny was up, when he posted 2 weeks ago about not being able to play the Sweet Cobra show in San Diego.
Little did I know.

Anyone that knew Matt, never had a bad thing to say about him...That guy is/was gold..

Yeah, Matt was the best. I was bummed to hear he was sick. I didnt realize just hoe sick he really was. Great guy. Awesome skateboarder. and even better guitar player. I'm lucky to have been able to see him excel at all of those things first hand. He's gonna be missed.

best friend for the past 25 years. awesome guitar shredder and a damn good skateboarder. lived life the way he wanted to.

check out all Mat's bands if you get a chance - they all rip.

RIP my brother - you will be missed.
