Swingin' Utters recording new album

Bay Area punk veterans Swingin' Utters have announced that they're currently in the midst of recording a new full-length. The record is expected out in the spring or summer of 2010, and would be the band's first proper studio album since 2003's Dead Flowers, Bottles, Bluegrass, and Bones.

In the interim the band released Live in a Dive in 2004 and Hatest Grits: B-Sides and Bullshit in 2008, and also added Jack Dalrymple (One Man Army, Dead To Me) as a member.

Every single goddamn Jawbreaker album sounds exactly the same. Would it have killed them to branch out a little? And now Blake is bringing that sound BACK with forgetters? Un-fucking-believable.

Ugh if you get a formula right, and you play punk who gives a shit? A Wilhelm Scream makes very similar songs and they kick ass as well.

Second of all, they did branch out a little on their latest if you listened to it. If you want to be a music elitist DON'T LISTEN TO PUNK ROCK YOU MOOK!

Hey, all I know is that people here started making fun of Pennywise for putting out the same stuff over and over, and somehow Jawbreaker got a different treatment. I guess their PR department did a better job creating a personality cult.

And what exactly is "their latest?" Dear You? That came out like a million years ago!

Oh okay, Jack wont reform One Man Army or play with Dead To Me but he'll play with the Utters. Makes me sad.

i like african elephants much better than the previous stuff. I think they finally found their own sound on it. that being said i did miss his vocal parts.

I miss the back and forth vocals. They do it a little but not nearly as much. I don't know why Nate and Chicken didn't do it.

I wasn't uncertain about it at first but Dead to Me is like the easiest band on earth for me to listen to. I love that album, but I miss Jack at the same time. Hopefully there will be the three of them singing on the next album.

First off: the Utters are not only the best band still around these days but they are one of the best from the last twenty years. If you disagree, you're wrong. It's that simple. Such an inspired and heart-felt band. Secondly, I just saw them play on Friday 12/4 and Jack was there playing. So yes, he is still in band actively. Thirdly, African Elephants is nothing but garbage. My money is that Jack just cut his losses on that shitty record. I fucking love Cuban Ballerina and Little Brother which is why AE breaks my heart, but man, GARBAGE.

That's all, back into oblivion I go. Viva Utter$.

I completely agree, the Swinging Utter$ are easily one of a handful of punk bands that truly get it. Hence why a guy as talented as Jack Dalrymple is playing with the Utter$. I'm sure a dream come true to him.

And regarding African Elephants, it's easily the worst record by Dead To Me. And obviously that little light that was Jack Dalrymple in DTM turns to be a profound loss, and AE suffers so much because of the loss of Jack on the record.

If Jack Dalrymple doesn't decide to reform with the current incarnation of Dead To Me, DTM should hang it up, and keep playing under a new name/moniker. Because Cuban Ballerina, and Little Brother defines Dead To Me. African Elephants only hurts the DTM discography.

I have loved the Swingin Utters since I first saw them at the Berkeley Square way back in 1992. Last friday they were just as amazing at Gilman St.

The only band I have seen more times than the Utters is Toxic Narcotic, and the Utters is how I got into T.N. so thank you to them!

I was a huge One Man Army fan & saw them a bazillion times as well.

I however can not stand Dead to Me at all, I tried there awful, and they owe the Sonoma Pyrate Punx money for shirts they printed but were never paid for & that is just lame to rip off DIY company's. Much happier that Jack is in S.U.
