Lagwagon add another ex RKL member to their line-up, announce plans to tour

Dying Scene is reporting that Lagwagon has recruited another member of RKL in bassist Joe Raposo. Raposo fills in for founding bassist Jesse Bugilonewho left in January. Cape noted:

We are training a new guy, that I consider a fill in. He is an old friend of ours that I consider a great guy who will most likely become the bass player in Lagwagon

Cape also noted that Lagwagon will tour Europe later this summer.

Actually, that's not entirely true. Empire is still awesome, with the exception of the muppet asteroid worm.

Excellent bassist, and now the most-talented member of Lagwagon. I can't imagine what they have to "train" him for.

Even as a wiener kid I just couldn't get into this band. I wore the fuck out of my RKL discs, though. Aren't most of them out of print now?

They're all out of print and it's criminal as far as I'm concerned. The amount of crap that gets released by Epitaph these days is a joke when you can't get RKL albums.

Not even re-activate. Riches to Rags is still the easiest to find but none are in print at the moment. Haven't been for at least a few years.

Well-said. This is doubly true when you consider their litany of dead members and the royalties their next-of-kin could probably use.

Do you not think if they could actually sell, Epitaph would have kept them in print? Of course they would. There's no royalties for next of kin, because they wouldn't sell. I'm sure by this point, many of those records are out of Epitaph control and no one else seems particularly interested in releasing them, either.

All I know is, myself and a number of folk I know would shell out for those albums, but as of now we have to "steal" them online.

Epitaph doesn't conduct longitudinal worldwide surveys, so I reckon they wouldn't KNOW if there was a lucrative increased demand for RKL re-issues. If you know something I don't, though, I'm all ears.

I agree with this for sure. I know for a fact although I own all the albums plently of people would buy these albums again. Most of us who listened to RKL in the first place bought these albums so long ago that they're in crap condition now. I'd love to have new copies as a safeguard.

How long ago didn't those records come out?? Over 15 years or so? Most record deals, the master reverts back to the artist at some point. Even if they were still under Epitaph control, like I said, if there was really a demand, they'd have kept them in print. Also, as I said or alluded to, labels buy catalog items all the time from other labels, or from bands. It's super common. Again, if someone out there really felt like there was demand, they'd move on it.

And you're partially right, no one KNOWS what's in demand. However, people who run successful labels generally have a pretty good idea as to what's worth sinking their money into. You think if Fat, Side One, Suburban Noize, Kung Fu, Asian Man etc etc really thought it was worth it, they wouldn't have made a move?? Of course they would.

I probably know a couple hundred people who'd LOVE a repackaged Infest discography... that doesn't mean it's worth a label's effort to actually release it.
