Drummer Dave Hidalgo Jr. of Suicidal Tendencies, Spinerette and The Drips has announced that he has joined Social Distortion. Dave replaces Scott Reeder of Fu Manchu who filled in for Atom Willard when he left in March. Reeder performed with the band on their recent tour of South America but will apparently be returning to his main gig in Fu Manchu when they resume touring late next month.

Wikipedia lists 7 former drummers. Social D must be gunning for the Chili Peppers guitarist slot for most former members ever.

As much as I love SD, they're actually a pretty boring band to drum with. Willard was kinda wasted with them.

Dave is a really amazing drummer. Good for him! He used to be in a kick ass band called Los Villians. Seek them out, they rule.

This guy will stay in the band until his asshole dad Viggo decides to race Arabian horses across the desert.

What the hell are you guys talking about "boring drumming"? When i saw them in 95 with Charlie Quintana. It was the best drumming performance i've ever heard/seen.I don't know about these new guys but Chuck and Charlie sounded awesome in Social D.A great drummer will never make the skins in a song sound boring.Social D is not about showing off and instrument solos. They pound out their tunes with accuracy and tightness as a unit. |
