My best friend engineered and played keyboards on some demos for these guys before they were on MTV or a major label...they took the demo on good faith to pay that week...my friend has never seen a penny.

I'll admit it - If Lifestyles, Anthem, or Girls Don't Like Boys comes on the radio, you bet your ass I'm singing along.

Things about this band:

1) Good Charlotte is a really stupid name. While we're at it, so is Benji.

2) The singer dude sounds like MxPx's singer. At least MxPx, despite the god shit, played fast and hard once in awhile and he kinda yelled and stuff.

3) Nicole Richie.

4) "Girls don't like boys, girls like cars and money". The post-Blink-182 pop punk social atmosphere was getting progressively worse as it was back then with the cutesy-wootsey boys in bands acting like Tom and Mark to a T and their retarded girlfriends sit around and take it, smile while they're onstage writing break up songs, and act like groupies driving intelligent chicks away from punk rock. THEN a song like this hits the radio without any sense of irony whatsoever and pushes sexism far past that already ridiculous line, and we've barely recovered from it since.

5) Save your jokes about number 4. It's true. I'm somewhat of a feminist, but it's not to get laid or defend ugly chicks. I think sexism, like most shock stuff, is only funny when it's taken to extremes like The Queers "My Cunt's a Cunt" or Guttermouth's "This Won't Hurt A Bit". When you sit back, act cute, and write sly sexist lyrics and their dumb little groupies eat it up, that's when it's actually offensive to me. Let's not even get into their "Riot Girl" t-shirts.

I can't emphasize enough how much fuck this band

Adapting from the post above, several reasons to hate this band:

1. They are shitty bubblegum pop.
2. They ushered in the TWO extremely unfortunate trends of "punk(!)" bands (a) dressing/talking like gangstas and (b) wearing makeup.
3. Their singer formed a "star couple," in which one half of the couple was a bitch and the other half was Nicole Richie.
4. They had the single worst "true colors"-revealing episode of "Punk'd," threating to beat up a guy who (as far as they knew) had just been in a car accident.

I'm still surprised this band is still popular enough to warrant signing to a major label again.

I remember when I was like 12 or 13 and these guys were playing at this shitty cafe venue here called My Brothers Place, it was the "hangout" for everyone in middle school and the only place in waldorf for bands to play. Although I think MXPX played there once. I liked that song Superman Can't Walk but I think that's about it. Weird that they ever got that big.
