Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Suicide Machines, more scheduled for Fest 9

A full-page ad in the latest issue of Razorcake has revealed the bulk of the lineup for this year's Fest in Gainesville, FL. Happening October 29-31, the weekend will be headlined by Me First and the Gimme Gimmes and The Suicide Machines, along with scheduled performances from Torche, Frank Turner, Leatherface, Smoke or Fire, A Wilhelm Scream, Cobra Skulls, Strike Anywhere, Kylesa, Dead to Me, Teenage Bottlerocket, Heartsounds, Tim Barry, Toys That Kill, and several others.

A scan of the ad can be found here. It's important to note that due to the early nature of this ad, the lineup is subject to change; the folks behind the Fest are expected to launch their full website and begin selling tickets very soon.

I am still waiting to hear an announcement of a possible Planes Mistaken For Stars tour down to Fest this year. The only other date I'm aware of is Chicago Oct. 28th.

But, some mentioned didn't play last year.

Teenage Bottlerocket, Heartsounds, Suicide Machines, Me First, My Heart To Joy, Into It. Over It, Sainte Catherines, Wow, Owls!, Hellmouth, Burning Love are all bands on that ad that have never played Fest before. Maybe Junius too, but I could be wrong.

I used to feel that way about the state of Florida at one point in my life as well. Then I did go to Fest and realized that Gainesville is a pretty cool town. Though I've been told (and I'm sure) that it's low-key/not nearly as insane the rest of the year as it is during Fest.

But yeah. If you do decide to go to Fest, really, Gainesville will likely change whatever opinion you had previously of the state of Florida. Definitely did for me.

I'll go ahead and cast my doubt on that. They played Rad Fest at Wilmington, which is much smaller than The Fest in Gainesville, and Matt was being all preachy and lame about them having corporate beer sponsors (Pabst). I love RVIVR, and I understand his point, but at the same time, let's be adults and realize that if you want to book a 2 day long show at 5 or 6 venues and have to pay all the bands who are coming in from all over the country (or world) and keep ticket prices low, sometimes taking money from a beer company that 75% of the people at the shows already drink all the time, is union made and reasonably priced isn't all that bad, I don't think. :shrug:

1. Propagandhi would be great, but I really don't think it's the proper scene for Propagandhi compared to say Riot Fest. There you have a few big name hardcore and metal bands they'd be all about. Plus Fat Mike at the same place would probably cause a shitstorm.

2 . Superchunk at Fest... maybe I could see that. But I wouldn't have too high of hopes for that.

3. Leatherface, Suicide Machines, Torche, Frank Turner, Kylesa, and Me First not doing anything for you as awesome headliners? I just don't fucking know man.

4. Magazines get ads for these things at least a month ahead of announcements, so wait for a ton more.
