"Rolling Stone reports that Henry Rollins decided to make a benefit compilation, Rise Above, to support the West Memphis 3. Among others, he's enlisted Chuck D, Lemmy, Ryan Adams and Cedric Bixler to lend vocals to Black Flag covers. You can check the article out here and probably click on read more for the track list."

wow. some great stuff hear. i never thought i'd see hank III, dean ween, ryan adams, and rancid on the same album covering black flag, but im sure glad they did it.

love black flag despise henry rollins and understand the WM3 situation i hope those boys get out soon! Henry Rollins couldnt right a good song for BF if he was forced to by god himself! sorry ranting is part of my nature

Henry Rollins made Black Flag the intensely angry and legendary group that it was. He gave the group it's creepy, insane edge- Dez had a voice that was giving way too easliy, Chavo sounded just like every other punker, and Keith Morris was better off with the Circle Jerks- I can't think of one singer more insane and intense than Henry, anyway- this comp. is something that I at first was excited about- BUT NOW I'M Wetting My PANTS WITH JOY!! Henry is actually playing some songs- that's gonna be a real treat, Chuck D. was the best rapper ever. Period. Ice T is one crazy motherfucker, but Iggy Pop, Keith Morris, Chuck Dukowski, Tom Araya, Mike Patton, and Tim Armstrong!!! That is just beyond my expectation- easliy gonna be my most looked forward to release of year- going to a good cause and plus the other singers im less familiar with will probably rock this comp as well, even t

rollins is a chump! he's like THE STING of hardcore,an embarassment,and detriment to the reputation of a once great band. his only contribution to hardcore was bringing macho posing into a scene that had been previously devoid of it. hey,thanks hank! ask any old fart (like myself) who managed to see the flag both pre and post henry which line up was better! if you like the grateful dead inspired jam period of black flag better than ron reyes singing white minority,you must be smoking more pot than ginn! check out the utterly expendable SOA 7" to see just how marginal hank's talents really are!

Rollins was like 18 when he did SOA you idiot and it still rocked. Chavo (Ron Reyes) did play some great songs, I like all of Black Flag's songs, but he had no intensity, you couldn't take hims seriously because he was drugged up all the time, Rollins was insane, and what was even scarier was that there wasn't a drug in his system. I saw Flag twice in '80, '82, '84 and '86. The best, most brutal show was '84, the "My War" stuff was just violent as hell, in '80 I saw Chavo and Dez, They were great, but just sort of didn't move me as much as Henry did, Dez seemed like too much of a liad back, nice guy to be a Flag singer. In '82 it was great, almost as great as '84, '86 was good, but you could tell Rollins was getting urned out on Flag it was probably a good time to stop, even though they did play some great stuff off of "In my Head".

His best work was after Black Flag anyway- "Hard Volume" is easliy the hardest, loudest, most insane record ever created. PERIOD.

Yeah, this should be more than a bit interesting, but knowing Henry He'll pull it off with ease. the original "My War" is intense as hell, Henry is the best screamer. To see him covering songs for a good cause is great- And Chuck Dukowski sings?! That should be interesting and probably great.

The guys who cut Rollins down know nothing about the guy and just wanna bash him- they think he's some asshole "tough guy" or something- obviously you have never met the man nor have you ever actually read into him. Know someone before you cut them down. I've met plenty of singers from all genres, including punkers like Lars and Graffin and out of everyone Henry was the nicest and most devoted, so I don't see where you bozos are coming from- and "Nothing Left Inside", "Forever Time", "Out Of This World", etc. etc. are some of the best and hardest songs ever recorded- just because they are songs with a meaning and aren't about beer and boobs doesn't make it bad you numbwads.
