Something about Gimper, and also surprise that these bands can still fill the Ogden.

I'm really looking forward to the new Aquabats record. I decided to check out the new Reel Big Fish record too. I love that band, but rerecording those songs was totally unnecessary. The original versions were fucking perfect. I'm not buying the whole "we're better musicians now, so we wanted to rerecord them story either." The new versions seem like the energy has been sucked out. From the first track, the tempo seems slowe and the horns/drums sound almost robotic. Like you could almost hear the click track. I appreciate some of the new little subtleties that they added, but overall I'd rather just listen to the originals.

where are lagwagon, nofx, less than jake, mad caddies, and the rest of the bands that mattered in 1996 before becoming one-note retread hacks?

Never really been that into RBF but fuck I will see the Aquabats any time, every time. The venue's a block away from my job even. Fuck year.

No where near me...

I'd go see The Aquabats, you couldn't pay me to sit through Reel Big Fish again.

Obligatory Pulp Fiction reference.

Surprised there are no west coast dates, considering that both bands are from southern CA. I met RBF at the Warped Tour stop here in San Diego & asked when they'd be coming back through, & they said House of Blues in November. Guess that's not the case. Too bad; I'd love to see both of these bands on the same bill. Haven't seen the Aquabats in a few years...it was either at the Glasshouse in Pomona or at the last cadet summit, I don't remember.

Maybe they'll do something novel and different, like get some live footage of this tour and make put it out on a DVD. |
