In a new interview with "cruelty-free" music site Save A Scream, outspoken musicians Propagandhi discuss their cruelty-free lifestyle, animal rights and activism. The band explains why they support mainstream charities like PETA, but also more controversial activist groups like the Animal Liberation Front.

I wish Punknews could claim to be "cruelty-fee". Unfortunately, baby seal fat is amazing at cooling servers.

propagandhi is one of those bands for whom my interest has stayed consistently high since i got into them. i sometimes wish more bands were this vocal about political and social causes these days. at this point, i wouldn't even care if it were something i agreed with or not. 4+ Replies

I will be converting over to the vegetarian side of things in September. Decision was originally prompted by the essay in Supporting Caste's liner notes. 12+ Replies

How can one claim to be "ethical" and still give money to PETA? I'm all for protecting animals, but compensating for one wrong by displaying another (portraying women as sex objects or animals themselves) is counter-productive and hypocritical. 6+ Replies

So on Saturday I was suppose to attend a vegan potluck, but since I had read my email late, I couldn't make it. It was a vegan pizza potluck too!!!!! 3+ Replies

So I was going to protest a store that sells fur coats near my house today, but then I was stopped by a police, because I fit the description of someone who commits crime, such as a person who robs a bank and I was no where near the store. Someone actually called the cops on me! 4+ Replies

Any other vegans/vegetarians feel being veg makes you sort of peaceful on the inside! True statement. 4+ Replies

Would Chris Hannah hate me since I'm a vegetarian? I still eat eggs. 1+ Reply

My two cents: I love eating meat and generally hate preachy animal rights loudmouths, yet their animal rights songs are some of my favories of all their material. I prefer to eat as much wild game (hunted by my family) and small family farm products as possible, but I don't lose any sleep over the thought that an animal had to die (or even suffer) for me to eat a hamburger. I don't like it, I just don't care enough to boycott it. I respect those of you who do, as long as you stay out of my business. 5+ Replies

Anyone who says How to Clean Everything isn't their best album is a liar.

I support the ALF and I support their tactics. They have not murdered anybody and they have forced alot of people (within oppressive industries and workplaces) to change their ways and/or resign. They have also set many animals free (at the dismay of greedy capitalists). We all praise and respect the actions of the The Underground Railroad (the informal network of secret routes and safe houses used by slaves in the United States to escape to free states and Canada with the aid of abolitionists) and the Bielski partisans (a group led by three Jewish brothers who saved and recruited Jews in Belarus during the Second World War). Why can't we make the connection here? Listen to this commentary/discussion with Ronnie Lee and Dr. Roger Yates: http://www show rest of comment 2+ Replies
