Bomb The Music Industry plays The Blue Album & Pinkerton

Bomb the Music Industry! have announced their own version of Weezer's recently unveiled "Blinkerton" tour. They explained:

Hey, everyone! Bomb the Music Industry! would like to announce that on October 9th we will be playing our beloved Blue Album / Pinkerton at our beloved Silent Barn in Ridgewood, Queens. Have faith that we do not want to be known to the world as a Weezer tribute band. Just thought this would be a fun thing to do. Every musician isn't always looking at the bottom line.

There are multiple explanations for this. Just one of those explanations is media whoring. There are other explanations just as plausible which are exclusive from media whoring. Because other multiple, exclusive, plausible explanations are possible here, you can't say for certain that this is media whoring.

In fact, the person in charge of it is telling you it isn't. Also, the band has a reputation for not doing things like "media whoring." Only indicative, I know, but there is nothing other than the act itself to suggest what you're suggesting. Bottom line is that your conclusion is based on nothing but itself (read: nothing), and you are almost certainly wrong.

I love this band. They are my favourite current/newer band, but I don't know if this will work. Their sensibilities don't really match up with those of vintage Weezer. Bomb the Music Industry! style is more busy, cluttered, and manic. Still this quote on their Facebook page is hilarious:

"Because you really don't have the money to see Weezer play that shit as shells of themselves on some massive stage."

If I could, I would go see this out of morbid curiosity.

This is one of the greatest ideas ever. My favorite band of all time (Bomb the Music Industry!) covering one of the key albums that helped shape me musically when I was just a wee lad (Blue Album).

Really wish I wasn't stuck here in Oklahoma.

Oh well, at least when the documentary comes out I can vicariously see them live anytime I want too.

Also, would it be weird if I end up going to the documentary premiere before I ever see the band live?
