Everyone needs to make sure they get the Tim Kasher record. I've never even liked lyrics about love, but the music is so fucking good that it doesn't matter that the lyrics don't fit my usual tastes, and I've actually found myself really liking them anyway. Serious contender for album of the year.

But as much as I love the pants off American Art, I actually think The Cosmic Drama is even more brilliant. After reading The Sirens of Titan (what it's based upon) and listening to it high a million times, there's no question about it really. Weatherbox basically is Kurt Vonnegut in music form. There is such meaning in their art, but they don't worry whether or not you discover it, they just lay it out there in illuded simplicity, and they don't take themselves seriously at all.

I'm nervous about their next record though, I think they're gonna be taking themselves even less seriously. That Christpuncher 7" is their two worst songs, so that's not good news. I know at least one of the new songs is fucking awesome, and I really hope they keep the backing vocals as in this video:

thanks man! yea, i like the Cosmic Drama..if I smoked and listened to it I would probably enjoy it more, but I had to stop smoking. Anyways, I like "The Bullets" a lot..and I really dig this song in this video. Do you know when their new album is due out?

They haven't really announced anything yet. They've been playing new songs for several months now and recently said on facebook or myspace that they've been recording some of them and we should be able to hear them "soon". I was originally expecting a new album by the end of this year, but now I'm thinking it'll probably be early 2011.

Now that you've gone and got me talking about Weatherbox, did you know that for The Cosmic Drama, they recorded it once but the producer or whoever fucked them over, and then everyone else in the band quit? So then Brian recorded the whole thing again himself. I think the drumming is super impressive, didn't know he had that in him. And it really makes me want to hear the original recordings, but I don't think anyone ever will. :(

Gabba has a very different meaning in Europe. It's a type of extremely high BPM, fucking awful hardcore techno usually listened to by neo-nazis on too much ketamine.
