His voice never used to bother me until now. Maybe it's because he's old.
jimmynorville (October 14, 2010)
Victory did a good job of finding the voice equivalent of their music.

I hate Metallica, but download their records in the hopes that they will eventually be too poor to carry on doing music. Is that OK?
punks_not_punk (October 14, 2010)
Why the hell would they use Gilbert Gottfied? He is the most annoying man on the planet. I bet he didn't read through those lines one time, just showed up and read it for the first time for the take. It shows, so many "umms" and stumbles.
punkcdsampler (October 14, 2010)
Even bands currently on Victory Records hate Victory Records. I would never consider giving them my money.
StraightToHell82 (October 14, 2010)
Gilbert's right! We totally should go to the Victory Records headquarters, cut off Tony Brummel's head, and burn the building to the fucking ground.
Dante3000 (rich) (October 14, 2010)
So, so confused about this. If it's not just done for viral marketing it's a silly idea.
MusicFiend2310 (October 14, 2010)
He doubts any of us work? Coming from a rich "comedian"? That's why bands tour dipshit. With the bands that I like, they don't give a fuck about people downloading their music illegally. At least it's spreading their name. And you know what? That makes me go help them out and by cds, tickets, and merch. Stop being bitches. This is the future, people aren't going to stop. So sir...go fuck yourself.

Just Say No To Piracy
Skibz777 (October 14, 2010)
Not a bad video, but I'd rather hear Emo Phillips lecture me about environmental concerns, or for Carrot Top to instruct me how to file a patent.
itsambertime (October 14, 2010)
support the artists? isn't it pretty well documented that victory has pocketed tons of royalties? FUCK YOU VICTORY.
johngentile (john g.) (October 14, 2010)
Victory records aside, I genuinely think that Gilbert Gottfried is hilarious.

An oldie but a goodie:
laserguidedbygod (October 14, 2010)
The worst part about this is that to appear in this commercial, Gilbert Gottfried was forced to sign an exclusive seven commercial deal and any other projects he attempts to participate in will also be owned by Victory Records until that contract is up.
dlangl4 (October 14, 2010)
I only watched it because I thought there was going to be an Aladdin reference. Everyone be warned. There is no Aladdin reference.
Chawpz (October 14, 2010)
It's funny because they only good band on Victory encourages their fans to download music illegally.
IDontHaveAnAccountYet (October 14, 2010)
I downloaded a Gilbert Gottfried CD once. It was funny, but I felt dirty afterward.
yahay (October 14, 2010)
sure, victory stinks, but i've always like gilbert's schtick. and he talks like a white version of cosby. think about it.
dethrock (October 14, 2010)
I still can't believe that Victory Records RAPED and KILLED a girl in 1990.
seth_uber_alles (October 14, 2010)
not wanting to pay bands or labels money because they may have a lot of money already is not the argument at all. who fucking says that? people still buy music if it's good, whether it be vinyl or itunes, and people still buy plenty of shit music too. and using macdonalds and burger king as an analogy is stupid, because those places both suck. I guess my point is FUCK VICTORY. they've proved themselves to be nothing but a joke time and time again.
Misanthropee (October 14, 2010)
More evidence good music sells: the deluxe gatefold LP of the new Kylesa went out of print a goddamn MONTH before release. What gives, Relapse? We want to buy your shit!
eunomi (October 14, 2010)
I find it amazing how there's all this support for illegal downloading by people that pay Comcast, Verizon, AT&T, et al, hundreds of dollars a month for the ability to do so. It's kind of fascinating in a train wreck way.
StandAlone (October 14, 2010)
Seriously? These record labels need to learn. People will always download crap. Time to find a new way to make money!
mattramone (October 14, 2010)
This is the dumbest thing I have ever seen.
Chaos_is_Goose (October 14, 2010)
Dont worry Victory records, I will never pirate your music.... ever.
swank (October 15, 2010)
Whenever I'm trying to convey a moral message to a bunch of pre-teens, I generally try to get the most grating, aggravating voice I can think to hire. Nothing is more effective in telling kids to do something they don't want to do, than telling them in a voice they'll be irritated by in the first place.
loumitch (October 15, 2010)
while i enjoyed gilbert gottfried saying "Go Fuck Yourself" over and over, if the bands are more concerned with just getting paid for the music they create and not spreading their music around to people who enjoy it and want to listen to it, then what's the point? and that's not a band i'm interested in. if the band is that good they will have plenty of fans who will buy their music and they can also earn good money touring and doing other promotions. i guess i'm not really 100% in favor of it though, but there's nowhere to really draw a line stating where it is and isn't ok...
david5345 (October 15, 2010)
The only thing that made sense in this was the statement that most of Victory Records fanbase don't have jobs.
2kings (October 15, 2010)
never seen any other labels do this... but i guess those other labels actually sell music! zing!
rebelarms (October 15, 2010)
I highly doubt that no one from any band on Victory has ever illegally downloaded music.
markbr28 (October 15, 2010)
This makes me want to download every release that Victory has ever issued, just to say "fuck off". i think my computer might feel dirty though
jaimage (October 15, 2010)
A much more effective anti-piracy message: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALZZx1xmAzg
keithus (October 15, 2010)
Maybe the bands would get paid if the label wasn't ripping them off.
pito (October 18, 2010)
Vicotry records... your label suck so much that I will never ever ever pirate one of your records.
victorcrowley (October 18, 2010)
Because if was able to take the entity of a independent record label, I would hire someone like Gilbert Gottfried to release a public service announcement who not only insults the audience (everyone who watches the video, not just the illegal downloaders), but also compares said record label to a corporation that functions by selling genetically engineered food stuffs. As valid as the argument may or may not be, the execution is terrible.
goodfella31 (October 21, 2010)
funny thing is i wouldnt pay a cent to listen to anything off victory's label, yet i would gladly pay money for a big mac from mcdonalds. |
