Tours: Forgetters (West Coast)

forgetters have announced a run of West Coast dates set to begin at the end of January. The project is, of course, the new band from Blake Schwarzenbach (Jawbreaker, Jets to Brazil) and original Against Me! drummer Kevin Mahon. The band made their highly anticipated recorded debut earlier this year with forgetters [double 7-inch].

I really hope the LA shows aren't being put on by FYF Fest. Everything those clowns touch turns into a big disorganized mess.

I probably had to wait an hour to get into the Thorns of Life show in 09 and even longer for FYF later that year.

Who's seen them? What are your honest thoughts? Love Blake, strong songwriting, great idea but the players....

I saw them in brooklyn at the beginning of the summer before the 7" came out. It as mostly all their friends and family so they didnt seem to be taking the show to seriously but they put on a great show. They were put together well and they sounded tight. If you enjoyed the 7" you shouldnt be disappointed but dont expect too much more.

Jawbreaker is easily one of my favorite bands, but this band just doesn't do it for me. I have tried and tried to get into the 7" but nothing about it grabs me.

Really? That fucking sucks.... Everything this guys has done, I've always welcomed openly.... I mean, Jawbreaker was amazing, but not all of their records were, Jets to Brazil were good, and had (in my opinion) one amazing record, while the other two were kind of just there. I've taken this as just another step in Blake's writing... you can definitely hear elements of Jawbreaker and JTB in the music... let it grow on you... it took a couple of days, but now I can't stop listening to it. The songs they did on Chicago Radio were nothing short of awesome, and I hoping they are keeping those as part of the set.

If you sequence them right with the samples and the 7" songs, it's a pretty good lp.

I've seen video's and I actually did think those were better than the 7" song, but I don't know man, something about it doesn't grab me. Can you send me the other songs and tell me the way you sequenced them, I'll get back to you on a revised opinion.
