Duvall loses rhythm section

There's been a lot of speculation as of late about Duvall; rumors were flying about people quitting/leaving the band. Here is the official word, straight from drummer Mike Felumlee:
"Me and John [bassist] left the band. Eli and Josh are going to continue as Duvall. I'm still going to do my solo stuff and the label though."

OK This surprises me, but only slightly... I don't exactly understand why Mike would leave A3 b/c they were touring too much and b/c he wanted to spend more time with his family. Then he would start Duvall w/ the Caterer crew knowing that that they would be pushing the band full force and be on the road once again. BUT his reason for quitting Duvall just doesn't make any sense to me. Why can't someone have a solo project and still be in a band? Does he want to turn his solo work into the next dashboard (god I fucking hope not b/c one is more than enough already)? As far as Duvall is concerned I love 'em, but I really wish Josh's jesus kick would go into hiding. I also wish they would just reform as the Smoking Popes (but that's just me).

You seem to be forgetting the fact that Mike runs Double Zero Records. COrrect me if I am wrong, but the same thing happened to Bret and Bad Religion. Bret left the band because he had to run Epitaph (and what a fine operation it is). Double Zero is a very young label, so they must work hard to get it up and running smoothly. So in the end, I find it completely understandable. Good luck Mike with the Solo act and the label. Good luck to the remaining Duvall members.

Hey, thanks for wishing me luck. I appreciate it. Just for the record though, I didn't quit Alkaline Trio. I was asked to leave. We're all friends now though. Oh yeah, I'm not going to try to become the next Dashboard Confessional either. There's plaenty of solo artists that aren't anything like that. Not to mention that I'm nowhere near as handsome as that guy. -Mike

Scott, Jack's getting a drum set this weekend. We'll see how it goes. His favorite band is the Ramones, so that's a good start. -Mike

All this talk about drums makes me realize how much i want to play drums. It's weird, I start out playing air guitar, then leanrn to play it. The I start fantasizing abou tplaying bass, and I save up my holiday and birthday money to buy a cheap bass and amp. Now i can't be in the car listening to music without trying my hardest to hit the dashboard to the beat (No pun intented). I fuckin' suck, but maybe I will save my money again for a shitty set to teach myself with.

Yeah.... I reported this news to this site Sunday morning becasue I attended Mike and Eli's last show the night before. I guess someone needed confirmation before they posted the news becasue I thought they would have loved to get the jump on this story. Next time have a little trust in a brother....
