Tomahawk Chop, Cynics, Kristia Moya (Dead Ringer) and Divided Heaven are among the artists that contributed to the Just A Quiet Evening 2011 compilation, which is comprised of covers of classic tracks from the likes of The Lawrence Arms, Paint It Black, Lifetime, Kill Your Idols and a slew of others.

It makes me mad that Four Year Strong and Broadway Calls covers made it onto something under a Lifetime reference.

I know they are just trying to cut the tension of compilation that's about bringing it backwards, but I get pushed out neutral territory for my opinion on this, I would rather feel ostrichsized then being stuck listening to this all night long.

It's not AWFUL. Brendan Kelly's acoustic version from the split is amazing. Kind of hard to compete with. Also, they pronounce "dejected" "die jected" somehow.

the dude who did this comp is donating almost $500 to a breast cancer origination because of this compilation. what you think about the "unknown bands" (considering this is a DIY compilation) or "theme" of this comp is irrelevant, the dude did something great and got a bunch of solid musicians together to cover their favorite bands for a good cause. stop being ridiculous nerds about shit like this and stick to complaining about the newest Against Me! album or how Bomb The Music Industry gets too much credit or whatever the fuck you argue about on here these days.

As far as I know most people who really like Paint It Black, the Larry Arms, and Lifetime aren't so fond of them. All those whiney vocals mixed with bad metal breakdowns.

I call it scenecore. I hope it never catches on.

This is fucking awful. Hope these kids have acquired somewhat permissible licenses to sell these compilations. Also, at least an ounce of creativity can go a long way. I'm really good with Garageband as well.

I put the comp together if you don't like it that's cool if you do thanks that's awesome as well. I'm aware some covers are a bit off I added them as favors for friends, Im not one to hate on the music you listen to. The idea just started because I was bored and was fucking around and decided to get some buds to release a comp but then people caught wind of the idea and asked me to be on it I of course don't care and let anyone be on it because it was a fun thing to do. My aunt is a breast cancer survivor and is part of the mailman breast cancer foundation and asked if I would like to help so I decided to use this as a way to raise money and once we started getting WAYY more downloads then
Anticipated ; herself, her friends, our family, the organization, and so many others decided to help me get the money together and all that and we've raised over $500 off of something I started as a joke with some buds so if you don't appreciate it fuck off, if you do thanks it means a lot. Free downloadsll be back up soon oh and people have actually been paying for it ever since I ran out of free downloads so keep bitching about it on the Internet guys its doing a lot for you

You really shouldn't come onto message boards and post if you're gonna be so thin skinned about it.

Nothing makes me want to donate to charity like "If you don't like it then fuck off" and other rude comments.

A couple of them are good, a couple are bad, and a couple really make me question if you understand how to put together an album(structure,flow,theme,etc). But if you're worried about the charity bit I suggest you shut up, let people bitch, and focus on the charity issue. If you're worried about our opinion of you or your comp you should probably just leave cause I guarantee most of the people who care enough to post are people who want to bitch (myself included).

ive had this account for about an hour didn't mean to come off rude at all (even though i did tell people to fuck off. ironic) i do not care what you think of me, the comp, or anything for the fact of the matter. as of my ability to put together an album you probably didn't read the part where i said it started as a joke and was fucking around and the theme was "cover any song i don't care" and i believe i said it was cool if people hated it but think it's kind of lame to put it down for the charity part. enjoy it if you want if you don't liek it, cool. your opinion. have a good day sir

because he's defending a fun comp he put together with his friends, offered for free and allegedly used any proceeds from it to donate to a charitable cause? And if a retort aimed directly at some of the more hurtful remarks posted under this thread is enough to turn you off from dropping a dollar towards breast cancer research, then yea you should totally fuck off.

But I cant side with that Weezer cover. Any song that repeats "I got my dick sucked" more than zero times is garbage. I felt like I was listening to a frat party on that one.

A guy goes out of his way to put together a comp and raise some money; admirable. Whinging about the quality of something that most people have picked up for free is a bit lame. To put it in the most straightforward way, if you don't like the way it's put together rearrange it, if you plain don't like it delete.

The thing that bothers me most about the comments is that from my understanding, with every comp I have ever heard, has a large chunk of "unknown" bands on it. There's ALWAYS going to be music acts you've never heard of, so especially in this day and age of over-saturated music being available on the internet, aren't comps a good way to find out about new music?

Growing up I found out about most of the bands I eventually liked from compilations, who were all unknown to me at the time. Now people don't want to check out comps unless its all "bands you know"? New music has to come from SOMEWHERE.

Divided Heaven is a former member of The Boils.
Kristia Moya's band Dead Ringer has been getting been a lot of hype on this website (and well deserved).
Cynics has played The Fest in Florida and had a Pink Couch session on IfYouMakeIt.Com

Pretty easy to find out information on these "unknown bands nobody cares about" if you just did some research beforehand.

cynics was the nicest dude ever. i shot him a qucik email about using his PIB cover and he sent me his discography practically and also i asked all my buds who were in bands to help them out and i even put links to their projects in the info section of their songs. so everyone should go check their stuff
