Former members of The Promise Ring and Dismemberment Plan. One of my best friends, Barry Johnston (he also recorded our very first ep and has a big time studio in Enid, OK if anyone's interested), engineered this record. So i had an advance copy. I've listened to it about 20 times and it keeps getting better. A little dance rockish, a little indie emo a la The Jealous Sound, lots of hooks, great production, sugary sweet melodies. Just a really well done pop rock record.

It's a grower. I probably wouldn't have listened to it were it not for the connection. First listen, I thought it was ok, not bad, not good. I actually thought G would be into it. So after playing it for her a couple of times it just kept getting better.

Actually, this band no longer includes any members of The Dismemberment Plan (as of the album before this one, I think).

These guys are awesome. I ignored them for awhile because I wasn't a fan of the first record, but I think they've gotten better and better with each album since then.

I hope for you guys that this American Steel for The Fest thing works, but I'll be happy watching them with Descendents, Bouncing Souls, and me First at punk Rock Bowling :)

I don't get how people on this site haven't known about this band. I thought a lot of people loved The Promise Ring? This is definitely a favorite record of mine for 2011, but I don't think it tops We, The Vehicles. But it's really fucking good. Really, the only weak Maritime album is Glass Floor.
