The Phenomenauts decided to prank the infamous Family Radio organization. The group had predicted the rapture for May 21st, and from our presence here, one can assume that it either failed to pass, or heaven's standards are extraordinarily high. Regardless, the band went through with the prank which was covered by ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX and appeared in 4,855 newspapers across the country.

Should have given up when they had to attach balloons. Links to news reports would be more fun to watch than this video.

This wasn't even funny. Just kind of them being assholes to some dumb people. (I am a Christian so maybe that's why i don't find any humor in this)

This band is fucking horrible.... really.
givemenewwave (June 4, 2011)
This could've been condensed into a three minute video, but I understand they need to have a bunch of their songs play as background music. I did enjoy them being pricks to strangers though. A hobby of my own, actually.

I always liked The Phenomenauts, but for the last year or so, they've devoted more time in preaching anti-religious intolerance than actually being a band. Seriously, I had to unlike their Facebook page because 2/3 of its output was simply "religion kills", etc..

The Phenomenauts, as a band, suck... but I don't see why you're all being little cunts about this.
Misanthropee (June 4, 2011)
This is actually pretty lame. If they'd managed to procure hydrogen and it'd actually been enough to lift the dolls without balloons, it might've been sort of funny. Not the case. Plus their dumb "prank" is going to kill like 30 sea turtles once those things fall into the ocean.

These guys should spend more time trying to write good songs, and less time pretending to be Batman.

I'm really glad to see the Phenomenauts doing this. The people they're poking fun at in this video do a lot worse in the name of religion. Floating sex dolls pale in comparison to picketing abortion clinics, gay pride rallies, funerals of dead soldiers, college campuses, etc and yelling to a whole bunch of people that they're going to hell for being born and being themselves, and throwing in insults on top of that.

Aren't pranks usually supposed to be funny? That was boring and felt like more of a publicity stunt for their generic sounding band
tck204 (June 7, 2011)
I'm not religious at all. In saying that, the phenomenauts just come off as arrogant assclowns. Worst PR ever. |
