Wow, I've never listened to ANY of these bands. Most of the names I don't even recognize. Am I missing out on a lot of good music?

Jesus christ, 39 songs? Who's going to listen to that whole thing? I bet buried in there is one or two bands with unique and interesting takes on their song and the rest is just straight covers.

Listened to some of these unknown bands through their Myspace. Most of them are just regular weak pop punk bands. But I'm still very interested, there will probably have a few covers worth listening to.

The Wonder Years shouldn't be allowed to touch a Trio song

I like Rob from Ann Beretta/Inquisition/Foundation but seeing the song he's doing, I already know it will sound like Foundation

If I buy this it will only be because I purchase everything Rob Huddleston is involved in.

i have a feeling this is going to be absolutely dreadful. save for chuckie's version of bleeder, trio covers are pretty god awful. but i'll give it a listen.

You know, I enjoy some Alkaline Trio but I've never been able to get into them live. I've probably seen them easily 10+ times and the only good show I remember was from 99'. I don't know, just seems to be lacking energy or something. What's me deal?

Heard of four of the bands. I really enjoy Koji and The Wonder Years, Into It. Over It. is decent, and Punchline's drummer got beaten up by brokencyde.

Alk3 are one of my favorite bands (and the only tattoo I have), so I feel obliged to get this, but the only band on here I've ever heard is Allister. I may pass.

Guess what? All those bands you like? At one point, you had never heard of any of them.

I've never gotten this idea that seems to be common here, that all (or most) covers automatically suck. Example: Bigwig's version of Jawbreaker's "Ashtray Monument" is almost completely identical to the original, in every way, yet most punx will claim it sucks.

two discs. nearly forty bands. and the three or four names that I recognized were absolutely awful. what a weird, overblown effort. That being said, I'm really interested in hearing this.

I loathe tribute albums. This is going to suck.

Wait..half of these bands are from Pittsburgh? I wonder what that is about.
I've seen The Catastrophe open for Anti-Flag before and I saw them do an entire set of 90's punk songs (covers) once. They were super tight, so I think they will do it justice.

In my lazy quest to answer general comments and questions in the most effective way possible I try and present the answer to the questions I'm asked most frequently for any given week.

This weeks ever so popular question just so happens to be about the same topic as last weeks Q&A session. The Alkaline Trio tribucomp, so here it is:

"Why did you choose to have those Alkaline Trio songs covered?"

First off, I didn't choose these particular tracks to be covered. The bands that are taking part in the compilation did. I made a list of all the tracks from Goddammit!, Maybe I'll Catch Fire, the self titled album, From Here To Infirmary, Good Mourning, Remains and a few key tracks from some of the newer albums just to round out the list. That means we're talking about well over 100 songs for the participating artists to choose from. It was obvious from the beginning that the sheer number of quality tracks meant that there was no way that every popular song was going to get covered. And some of the tracks that were chosen to be covered ended up falling through due to unfortunate circumstances that cropped up for a select number of artists that forced them to abandon their participation on the project. These unforeseen drop offs led to gems like Crawl, Blue In The Face and Mr. Chainsaw being chosen and sadly never covered due to the problems faced by the artists that chose them.

Now you know the tangible reason for the lack of certain cover songs appearing on the comp. Now here's the psychological/philosophical reasons. I understand that it's human nature to say what isn't a part of a project as opposed to what is. For example, if Stupid Kid and Nose Over Tail weren't included on the project people would chastise me for those omissions. But since those tracks made the cut, people don't acknowledge the success but rather focus on the shortcomings. I'm not saying that this is a negative approach for people to take, just an unfortunate part of our psyche, and given my love for Alkaline Trio and my desire to see every song possible covered, I completely understand.

Any idea if The Wonder Years are still in on this?
