The Black Keys, Julian Casablancas of The Strokes, Modest Mouse, Patti Smith, Lou Reed, John Doe and others are among those who are paying tribute to rock'n'roll pioneer Buddy Holly on a new compilation titled Rave On Buddy Holly. The label has posted a full album stream of all 19 songs on the compilation

I really hate to admit it... cuz I dont like the guy at all, but he did one of the least worst jobs on this record.

I love buddy, but this comp is no good at all. there are maybe 3 songs on here that dont make me want to punch a wall.

the comp isn't great, but the kid rock cover makes me want to resurrect buddy holly and send him on a killing spree.

strangest looking zombie -gang ever. but multi-ethnicity is important in this day and age. can we get jim croce too? i love that guy.

Love me some Buddy Holly, not really interested in most of these bands/artists though.

That said, i liked Cee Lo's cover.

I actually enjoyed this quite a bit. Much better than our punk comps we usually talk about round here, featuring no-name pop punk bands covering a slightly-more-popular pop punk band.
