DYS (Dag Nasty, Down By Law, Slapshot) to release live album

Bridge Nine Records will be releasing a live album from straight edge/youth crew/crossover pioneers DYS. The record is titled More than Fashion: Live from the Gallery East and is due out August 9, 2011. The set features tracks recorded at the Wonderland Ballroom in Revere, Massachusetts. DYS Founding member Dave Smalley went on to sing for Dag Nasty, ALL and Down by Law, among others, while co-founder Jonathan Anastas helped launch second-generation Boston hardcore band Slapshot.

Wig Out at Denkos is perfect.
ALL has more good than bad. My only issue is that people complain about ALL but give is pass to the Descendents. If all you celebrate is 'somery' you are an asshole. ALL is just as consistent as Descendents.
First 2 Down By Law records are also perfect.

i don't get Allroy Saves either, considering how many people i've seen with that album cover tattooed on them, but Allroy's Revenge is tops, everything else ALL has done is hit and miss.

add the vinyl version of "All Scratched Up" to that list of good Down By Law records. That bonus extra side makes it soooooo amazing. I wish my record player worked just so I could listen to it right now.

I will be attending the D.Y.S. show in the East Bay next month. Gonna be fun!

I think that at least the first two Dag Nasty Albums are good on their own. Not sure about the other bands.

I don't really like Dave smalley's voice. I liked the songs better with shawn. As for dag nasty, it's all about cortner.

Same here. Dave was over-melodic and cheesy sounding to me. His best shit was the first DYS record. So glad Dischord released the complete Shawn sessions.

I remember being super stoked on "Gruesome Gary" on Punk-o-Rama 2 in like 8th grade, buying an album of theirs and being sorely disappointed. Never got Dag Nasty either.

I've given "Can I Say" a solid chance plenty of times over the years, and I've been exposed to that and their others a million times through hanging out and PAs at shows and community radio and whatever else. I don't dislike them by any means, but for some reason it just doesn't do anything for me.

Dag Nasty is only good w/ Dave Smalley @ the helm. Peter Cortner fucking sucks, yes I said it. So many people like his voice, it can't stand it. Sorry Peter.
