Underground Operations; Records from Ajax, Ontario

"Underground Operations, a new label from Ajax, Ontario Canada, hometown of Sum41, Notbychoice and Closet Monster, has officially been launched over the last three months. " Click below for more details about releases, and tours.

Their first releases include a label sampler with 8 songs from their four bands Marilyns Vitamins, Closet Monster, Bombs Over Providence, and Protest The Hero, as well as Closet Monster's full length Killed The Radio Star, and a Protest The Hero seven inch called search for the truth. Closet Monster will be embarking on a full cross canada tour with friends from re-define records The Getaway in November to help support the label launch and the release of their new album.
All releases can be found in canada through indiepool.com and globally through interpunk.com as well as on the web site undergroundoperations.com.

The other bands might be good (some of them are, I've seen a couple live) but the Sum41 mention is probably a way to NOT sell records, at least on this site :)

Maybe not on this site... but this site does not respresent any sort of majority, except maybe for punks. They are trying to market to punks... but younger punks that think punk is MTV.-BostonMusicGuy

I dunno. I'd like to think we have a cross section that's pretty representive. Just look at the top reviews: 1) Bad Religion - The Process Of Belief 2) Sum 41 - All Killer, No Filler 3) Get Up Kids - On a Wire 4) NOFX/Rancid Split 6) Bouncing Souls etc. Seems like a lot of different styles and mini-scenes.

Yea I really couldnt tell you why Sum 41 is on that top ten list... Since most of the comments on there are bashing sum 41 yet they love to read about them. Oh well.

most of the people that look at the sum 41 review look at it out of pure curiosity. The people who read this site would rather hear what other readers have to say about it than actually listening to it or taking what MTV has to say about it. thats why i read it.

it looks like it made people notice them though and talk about them too. in fact im probably going to remember the label now because of that. its obviously nothing like sum41 or notbychoice but i wouldnt have cared unless i had a reason to check it out. im a chump though.

1. the sampler is great. pick it up! the closet monster cd also kicks much ass. 2. being from ajax myself, it is nice to know that people from my scene made it. although i do not know any of the guys from sum 41 and i don't ever listen to their music, it's pretty fucking cool that they got to be huge playing punk rock. to all those that condem sum 41 and people for catching on, would you do it if it happened to your band? green day was considered punk before they exploded... sometimes when your band catches on it has nothing to do with selling out, it's just a fluke that happens when the right people hear your music og

That's what I say. If someone other than you likes a band, then you automatically cannot like it. I tink I went on a huge-ass rant about it, but I don't rmember under what post.

Underground Operations is nothing like sum41 or notby choice and is completely unaffiliated. More like the anti-thesis to those two bands that came outa ajax ontario. Completely diy and completly real; its just interesting how in the same town two exact opposites can emerge on polar opposite sides of the spectrum. ajax needs to be bombed but its worth saving this label in the end. they have something to offer.
