The Fest 10 schedule released

Get your highlighters ready because The Fest 10 schedule has been released. You can read it here and begin settling your conflicts immediately.

The Fest 10 happens October 28-30 in Gainesville, FL will feature performances from Hot Water Music, Against Me!, Lifetime, Less Than Jake, Paint It Black, Samiam and many, many more. We'll be giving the weekend plenty of coverage over the next several weeks and beyond; be sure to check out this week's Punknews Podcast for the first round of it.

I always want to go to Fest, and every year I get caught up in the excitement around here, and then I realize there's maybe five bands on the lineup I'd actually pay to see live. I'd only go just to meet all yous guys in persons. But I can never afford it.

Having to pick between some of these bands kind of makes me glad I'm not going. Of course not being able to see any of these bands makes me extremely sad I'm not going.

I have a media pass, so that won't be a problem, but do you really think 8 Seconds will be that backed up? I remember that happened at The Atlantic last year, but that place is much, much smaller.

Nah 8 Seconds is fine, the only venues that get backed up are The Atlantic and Common Grounds, and 1982 depending on whos playing, but maybe since CG/Double Down is under new management and shit now it will be better

having never been to the fest, can someone explain to me the logistics of venue hopping. if i wanted to see a "bigger" band (your lifetimes, dead to mes, etc..) at, lets say, 8:30.. how early would should i get there? is it guaranteed that i get in eventually? or is this situation too general, and it depends on the night, venue, and band?

It depends on the night, venue, and band. I remember trying to get into places last year that just weren't going to happen. You end up missing more than it's worth. I ended up making about 2/3's of my schedule. If i was going again this year, i'd definitely try to hunker down at one venue for a good amount of time before moving on to another one.

Only 2 venues generally have capacity issues (Atlantic and Common Grounds/Double Down). The two largest venues that the bigger bands play are never a problem to get into, you might wait 5-10 minutes at most. The line issue has gotten significantly better the past 2 years so I would expect it to be just as smooth this year.

All of the venues have a decent line/wait at the beginning of each day because they need to check everyones ID and give them a wristband for that day, but once you have your wristband you don't have to wait.

Tittus and Badbrain nailed it. Just a few more tips:

Try to get all your shitting done before the bands start playing. Shitters are hard to come by as all the local biz wants nothing to do with your smelly ass.

Be sure to stop by five Star pizza for a quick slice between venue hopping.

If you gotta have that beer, find someone with a parked van, hotel room, house, etc. and make it quick. Police are specifically looking for public drinking especially around that parking garage near Five Star. Every year some dumb ass kids get public drinking tickets and it ruins their nights.

For a shower just hit up the bathrooms near the pool on top of the Holiday Inn.

They posted on their twitter and/or facebook that they were dropping due to cost issues and school. Such a bummer.

I have alot of conflicts, I really wanna see Go Rydell but Small Brown Bike has been a fav band of mine for so long.
Menzingers and Flats is equally as hard.

Wish I were going/playing this year! The Friday show at The Theater of Gainsville or whatever it's called is pretty much a perfect lineup...Saturday's show as well.
