Emily's Army win mtvU's Fall Freshmen 5
by Adeline

Emily's Army has won MTVu's Freshman 5. The band was announced as a nominee last month and beat out Washed Out, Skrillex, Wallpaper and SBTRKT to take the title. Every semester, mtvU identifies "five up-and-coming artists that are primed to jump from campus favorites to household names. "

The band's name comes from bassist and guitarists Max and Cole Becker's 15-year old cousin Emily, who was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis in 1998 and has suffered from the disease her entire life. In tribute, the band adopted the name Emily's Army. The group released their debut Don't Be A Dick on Adeline Records and the album was co-produced by Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong.
