Screeching Weasel have posted the first song from their recently unveiled new EP. The 7-song EP titled Carnival Of Schadenfreude takes its name from a recent Weasel blog entry and is due out October 29, 2011.

Love Songs For The Retarded is easily their best album. Personally I think it's only second to Leave Home as the best punk album of all time, a statement I've stood by for 16+ years

Yea i thought first world manifesto was pretty damn good. IMO punk rock should be as loud, fast and juvenile as possible. Ben is a self-righteous prick and a total asshole but then again, so am I.

Listened to the Punknews podcast about this yesterday. Few points here: It was three guys talking about Screeching Weasel being off the radar and insignificant despite putting out an amazing pop punk record in March on Fat Wreck; Talking about how horrible SW music is despite all their record sales with minimal touring; Talking about the lack of punk scene here in Chicago, despite a sold out show next Saturday; Talking about how unimpressive it is to sell out Reggie's two months in advance despite SW being one of the few, if not the only band that's been able to do so recently; talking about the alleged mispronunciation of of the German word schadenfreude ("sha den froi duh" is correct) by Ben when in fact, the word, when spoken in English has the "duh" silent, making Ben's usage correct; Talking about the songs on the new record being hastily written after the SXSW incident when musicians frequently write great records in short periods of time while inspired (Devin wrote the new Cobra Skulls record in 3 weeks); Talking about how terrible the song Carnival of Schadenfreude is while admitting not taking the time to listen to it prior to the podcast. Other than that though, great job fellas.

This record as well as ben weasel, dan vapid, and johnny jughead are all steaming piles of monkey shit. As human beings they are pathetic losers. As musicians, their integrity and craft died around 1992 when they put out their last quality record called "wiggle". Everything they did after, no matter who was in the screeching ben band sucked period. All sellout pop punk mainstream sellout crap. If you want anything recent of sw that is actually good, get 'television city dream'. It's the only thing worth owning after 'wiggle'. And as for this record, it sucks sucks sucks. And ben can keep punching defenseless women all he wants, he will never achieve the infamy axel rose has gotten as his alter ego in 'rock'. I don't know how either of them can look themselves in the mirror and not want to cry. I urge all women, those that love them, feminists, and anyone with a heart and an ounce of compassion, kindness, deceny... to boycott ben weasel and in all forms of his money grabbing tripe... And I hope some girl punches him back a thousand times physically, emotionally, and mentally to equal all he has done to spread his hatred for women and for all others in this world that he can't relate to or are different than him...
