Videos: Fishbone: “Crazy Glue!”

Fishbone have posted the video from the title track of their new album, Crazy Glue. The band celebrated their 25th anniversary together this year.

As some commenters have pointed out, the band's new documentary, Everyday Sunshine, is currently one of the top documentaries of 2011 according to Rotten Tomatoes with a 100% positive rating and 34 reviews.

Kind of an average Fishbone song, but dear God, I still can't get it out of my head.

I just noticed a few minutes ago that 'Everyday Sunshine' currently tops Rotten Tomatoes' list of the Top Movies of 2011. It's on a technicality, but it's still pretty awesome:

I can't wait to see that movie. I started watching a documentry on Netflix about them last night but was starting to fall asleep so i turned it off.

I tend to get their grungier songs stuck in my head: I'll be mindlessly working on something and then "Black Flowers" and "End the Reign" will start playing in my head.

I really, *really* wish they still played those songs live. I'm aware that the guys who wrote those songs aren't in the band anymore, but the vast majority of Fishbone shows I've seen haven't even featured a single song from 'The Reality of My Surroundings' and that seems wrong. It's like if The Clash was still performing but didn't play anything off 'London Calling' in concert.

Black Flowers and End the Reign oddly aren't well received by most fans. And, I get that, I guess, but I really dig Black Flowers, especially that guitar solo. And I like End the Reign, possibly just based on how very non-Fishbone it sounds. Also, Fishbone tends to play Sunless Saturday and Everyday Sunshine a lot. Perhaps you forgot about those while you were really holding out for Fight the Youth (which I've heard they'll never play again) or Behavior Control Technician. But yeah, of all the Fishbone live torrents I've downloaded over the years, I've never once heard a live version of End the Reign, and just one for Black Flowers, and that was when they were touring in support of GAMAB.

I understand they'll likely never play anything off 'Monkey' live (except for "Unyielding Conditioning", which they play at every show), it's the omission of most everything from 'Reality' that seems like a crime. I've heard them play both "Sunless Saturday" and "Everyday Sunshine" at times, but it's rare: the last two times I saw them they didn't, at least. They just tend to cater to ska audiences much more heavily in the last few years.

Catering to ska audiences, eh? I guess I buy that, maybe. I'd say their sound got friendlier by 2005/2006 when they got the keys and trombone back in the mix, and Spacey T left the band, so they got less raw and heavy. So, if your post meant to imply "they've ditched the metal and heavy stuff in these last few years", I'd concur. But the new record does sound a bit more like the Hen House Sessions/Temple Bar material.

Their current setlists are usually dominated by ska, and they primarily play ska bills. While I have no issue with their ska material, I think part of what makes Fishbone so great is their eclecticism: I like the rollercoaster of sounds on each album as it shifts from funk to ska to metal to whatever. It's not quite as exciting when it's just a constant stream of ska-punk. Not to mention, all of the non-ska stuff is amazing stuff; it doesn't make sense not to play it. Not just the heavy stuff, but even something like "When Problems Arise"or "Ghetto Soundwave" rarely get played anymore.

I think Ghetto Soundwave hasn't been played since the 80s, and it's probably my favorite off Truth and Soul. Also, When Problems Arise has one of the best guitar solos I've ever heard. The most recent I've heard that one was on a 2001 torrent. Or was it 2000? or 1999? One of those, man!

My favorite live band of any band I have ever seen. I've seen them 5 or 6 times since 97 and every single show has been incredible

Wait a minute, "25th anniversary"? Didn't they form in 1979? Even if not, they still released their debut in 1985...

According to the movie I watched some of last night, they started playing in 79 and practiced until 83 when they started playing shows.

They're counting it as the 25th anniversary of their first LP (1986). I mean, yeah that's a weird excuse for an anniversary. Also they played their first show in 1983 according to Fishbonelive.org

They were pushing fans to try to get them in pretty heavily last year. I'd say they deserve it for sure, if not for their own records (which I think are more deserving than a lot that is in there already) then for their influence on popular music over that time period.

Meh, I doubt they'd get in...it's pretty much a popularity contest. R&RHoF is a joke, and I never really saw it's importance.

I think the general hope for that is so fuckers who read Rolling Stone will be like "Oh, Fishbone's in the Rockn' Roll Hall of Fame. They must be good. I should listen to them". I had a friend like that in highschool. The only punk he listened to was The Sex Pistols and the Clash. Why? 'Cause they're really old and have articles written about them in Rolling Stone. That can be Fishbone someday!
That's the most half-hearted exclamation point I've ever typed.

I'm guessing a shit ton of people are checking them out based on that mess The Roots made of playing Lyin' Ass Bitch last week. Maybe some of them will stick around, who knows. I see what you're saying with that though.
