Fugazi live archive is officially available

As promised, Dischord Records have opened up their soon-to-be-massive live show archive for download. The site will eventually have tracks from 800 performances from their formation in 1987 through the indefinite hiatus in 2003/2004.

The significant undertaking includes $5 downloads of each show, but offers people the opportunity to set their own price from $1.00 to $100.

I wish there were some video shows. Instrument is really good but watching them flow song to song live was always incredible.

there has to be thousands of hours of live show footage that exists considering they had someone travel with them for the purpose of shooting shows from the stage perspective.

i watched "instrument" a couple weeks ago for the first time in a year probably. it made me sad. ------> :(

It trips me out to see when they played California. While it's sad I never saw them I feel slightly better that as I came of age to actually be interested they played less and less. Odd comfort.

Wow, they only ever played one show in The Shire. It was also the very last of all the 50 states that Fugazi visited. I guess I shouldn't find that surprising, MacKaye himself told me after an Evens show that New Hampshire is a surprisingly difficult place to book a show in, but goddamn.

Yes, this was just an elaborate way for me to say I met Ian MacKaye.

No, it's a good song. To me, it's no styrofoam, 5 corporations, facet squared, returning the screw or furniture. But the more songs I think about the more I'm going to have to list as favorites.

"Nice New Outfit"? Really? I've always thought Steady Diet is their only non-amazing album, but it still has "Exit Only," "Long Division," "Runaway Return" and "KYEO." The other songs, for the most part, sound like fairly standard DC rock of the 90s (i.e. Bluetip, Jawbox).

not at all. it's weird that some of their songs i never have given a second thought to until i heard the live version. an example would be "blueprint." it's okay as far as the studio version goes, but on the volume: 29 live in leeds cd it takes on a whole new character.

"forensic scene" is on my favorites so nothing wrong with "waiting room."

Honestly, this is my favorite band ever, but I'm satisfied with the one record from the live archives project I bought 5 years ago (a 1993 show in Michigan). None of these albums appear to have any previously unreleased material.

October 15, 1995 at First Ave. My wife and I had our first date. Recorded but not available yet. Damn. What a great fucking show. I saw dudes in their late 40's dressed in suit and ties wigging out just as much as my 18 year old friends and I.
