Punchline bassist gives ultimatum

Punchline bassist Chris Fafalios has released a video delivering the ultimatum that if their new EP coming out tomorrow does not reach #1 on iTunes this week that he is quitting the band after almost 15 years. You can click Read More to see the statement.

He probably is, but at some stage, with a band that's stagnated, you have to know when to cut your losses. A lot of people probably leave bands after giving themselves similar ultimatums, just this guy's gone public with it in order to blackmail the band's fans into buying the EP.

I think you guys might be missing the joke. I think but could be wrong, that he was planning on quitting no matter what, but is doing this as a fun joke (in that he is fully aware that a band like this would never reach 31 on itunes) that may help out the band as he leaves.

This band has been among my favorites for a decade, and I've known Chris in that time and realize I don't get his sense of humor sometimes, but this tactic still just ticks me off and feels manipulative and disrespectful to fans. More than anything, I'm upset that his bandmates found out about this ultimatum the same time his fans did.
