lookingforcorpses (January 9, 2012)

You got it right this time!!!! Wooohooo

teaessare (January 9, 2012)

At the Drive-In and Refused in one day. I always pool them together too. THIS IS THE BEST DAY.

lostcausegiveup (January 9, 2012)

well holy hell, what a day.

Half_Idiot (January 9, 2012)

Well this is disappointing. I wish more bands would stay broken up.

The best thing Dennis ever did is the song "Golden Times" from The Lost Patrol Band.

No mention of fIREHOSE in the body text?

End unpopular opinions.

iorek (January 9, 2012)

you only post terrible things

Half_Idiot (January 9, 2012)

Eh.

SloaneDaley (January 9, 2012)

I wouldn't say The Lost Patrol Band are better than Refused but I like that one record with "Golden Times" on it more than anything by Refused that is for sure.

I'm not going to Coachella and have desire to hear new material by these bands so these reunions mean nothing to me.

Half_Idiot (January 9, 2012)

I'm with you 100%. Who would have thought Lyxzen would end up writing a genius power pop record not too long after (I)NC tried for the major label hype and failed.

mike_killroad (January 9, 2012)

Must be rough making all that reunion money.

Half_Idiot (January 9, 2012)

They'll be rolling in the meatball subs for MONTHS.

niveK82 (January 9, 2012)

If it were December they could get even more

Half_Idiot (January 9, 2012)

Guys should buy a franchise, that stuff is LUCRATIVE.

rejectedbyrequest (January 10, 2012)

*Full_Idiot

cbsrocksteady (January 9, 2012)

so. much. shit. not worth it.

iorek (January 9, 2012)

so expensive. killin my reunion high

shark-e (January 9, 2012)

This really should not be happening.

mike_killroad (January 9, 2012)

Agreed.

tournamentofhearts (January 9, 2012)

backed

jetblackdave (January 9, 2012)

Cash grab!

SloaneDaley (January 9, 2012)

They are doing it for their love of giant festivals man.

thismikeisapipebomb (January 9, 2012)

Refused are fucking...undead?

baronvonfuckyoustien (January 9, 2012)

and cashing in...

MrKite (January 9, 2012)

i snickered

fattony (January 9, 2012)

Zombrefused

scorpiondeathlock (January 9, 2012)

who cares if those four men refused to reunite at coachella? maybe they have personal differences. it's a free country..

baronvonfuckyoustien (January 9, 2012)

winner!

Misinterpreter (January 9, 2012)

10/10

anizaryasmeen (January 9, 2012)

easily 10/10

gugl0003 (January 10, 2012)

took me a second to get, but god damn, that was funny

RevolutionJoe (January 9, 2012)

Can I scream?

problemdaughter (January 10, 2012)

Woo!

crayZsaaron (January 16, 2012)

We lack the motion!

ozmanx (January 9, 2012)

Don't feel the lineup is worth the $300 for the 3-day event. Pass.

dX927 (January 9, 2012)

I'm going to play Carnac the Magnificent for a minute.....

What is the response to the Fest XI lineup announcement?

xbat-mitex (January 9, 2012)

Fuck, I hope not.

thismikeisapipebomb (January 9, 2012)

Capitalism is indeed organized crime and....we are reaping the benefits!

usapelican (January 9, 2012)

very nice

tenwestchaser (January 9, 2012)

Right? Much more elegant, and funny, way of putting my initial thoughts into words. This leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. Their reason for reuniting, of course...cuz your comment was gold.

publichousing (January 10, 2012)

You can't "opt out" of capitalism, buddy. Music is (easy) work for these dudes.

thismikeisapipebomb (January 10, 2012)

They said it not me

usapelican (January 9, 2012)

if i come back to this page and find out that black flag is going to play this show with ginn on gtar, or that abnd like avail or botch or jawbreaker are reuniting for this fest...i'm going to be even more mad at myself for not getting a good enough job to afford those tix

KRPABIHC (January 9, 2012)

Side question - Have you been to FEST very many times? Is is pretty hard to get weekend passes for that shit?

vischypunt (January 10, 2012)

Not really but you gotta be on top of it.. they sold out quick last year but it was a stacked bill for the 10th anniversary. I'd say you probably have a solid 10-15 day window before you might run into trouble but who knows.. no linup yet (that I've seen)

KRPABIHC (January 10, 2012)

Thanks, good to know!

usapelican (January 10, 2012)

homeboys right...you got nor more than two weeks from when they start selling them to get those weekend passes. good luck, enjoy it!

stagedivecity (January 9, 2012)

This is so upsetting. You want to try to relate to the kids by telling a story about how long ago you used to hop in a van and play basement shows but then your final reunion show is too expensive for most of your fan base. Was that the shape of punk to come? Playing your final show to the portion of your fan base that can afford it and a bunch of people waiting around to see The Black Keys? Fuck this.

hayman (January 9, 2012)

10/10.

Michael_Jackson_Jordan (January 10, 2012)

I'm pretty sure the same kids who didn't have $300 15 years ago to shell out for a massive festival were just teenagers, have since went to college, gotten jobs and can afford to hand over their hard-earned cash to this band that deserves a payday. It sounds like everyone except you has grown up. It's called "the payoff."

fox82 (January 10, 2012)

You'd be wrong to assume that all their fans from 15 years ago a) have decent enough to jobs (and time) to be able to afford a hipsterfest like this and b) that they would still care about a band they liked 15 years ago. And then there's all the people who got into Refused since they broke up and never had the opportunity to not go to their last show 15 years ago, but I guess they are not as real fans, right?

It would make more sense for them to do the one-off in their hometown or somewhere else with meaning for the band (like a squat or animals right festival), if it was more about playing some fucking music, rather than a quick cashgrab at a major festival.

bigposer (January 10, 2012)

As if the refused played in front of "real fans" 15 years ago. it was clear that (at least in the U.S) they were playing in basements and bars with hardly any people that knew who they were. If they played in front of REAL fans, their reunion would be in Sweden not here. Refused is just one of those bands that wasn't understood at the time, and took time to develop the huge fanbase they have now. although expensive, coachella is an opportunity where many people can watch them perform. i don't know how i'm affording it, but i'm going. Ungrateful bastards...

sukhov (January 11, 2012)

fuck man, have you even read the lyric sheet?

lostcausegiveup (January 9, 2012)

those are valid points. and holy shit, do i hate the Black Keys. but if i were closer to this, i'd definitely go. it will be quite the spectacle, i would imagine.

tenwestchaser (January 9, 2012)

I think it would be trumped by my fury from seeing them play to thousands of hippies on a massive stage while wishing they were playing a proper venue.

lostcausegiveup (January 9, 2012)

yeah, i understand that. and agree even. at the same time, so few bands come to where i live, that i cant afford to be picky.

bobbie (January 10, 2012)

Amen. 100% backed.

DRayYo (January 13, 2012)

So it's your job to keep punk rock elite?
Look, the fact remains that TSOPTC is one of my favorite records ever, and one that hasn't been exhausted after almost 15 years of listening. I regard it as one of the most important albums in my collection.
And as they said in the press release, they don't feel that they ever did the album justice.
If I were going to this show (which I am not for geographical reasons) I wouldn't give two shits how much it costed or who the other people are there to see or why I'm surrounded by fucking hipsters. Seeing my boyhood heroes take to the stage to perform the record I've-always-wanted-to-hear-live-but-never-thought-I-would would be all the satisfaction I need. And you can't attach a price tag to that, dude.
While I can appreciate your comment and certainly understand where you're coming from, I don't echo the sentiment.
I think this is also probably something these guys need to do for themselves, regardless of the crowd standing in front of them.

Dante3000 (rich) (January 9, 2012)

Better to be forgotten...

MN_DrNick (January 9, 2012)

... instead of in forgetters since they're not ever going to do anything again.

Is that how you were going to end that sentence?

Dante3000 (rich) (January 9, 2012)

Thorns of Life reunion in 2012!

MN_DrNick (January 9, 2012)

Can House Boat open up their shows playing nothing but the Thorns of Life album?

leecorsoisapenis (January 10, 2012)

Take this with a grain of salt, but on the Forgetters facebook page someone just posted that J Robbins is going to hop on bass for the recording of the full length. If this is true, holy shit. Also, it is the internet and anyone is allowed to post, so, ya know...

Skibz777 (January 9, 2012)

Finally, a Coachella line-up that has enough bands I'd be willing to go see...yet all on different days. I'm not paying for a weekend pass! Do you know how many novelty sodas I can buy for that price? I can tell you I love my sodas far more than I loved Radiohead's last album. >:(

There were rumors that Thomas Dolby was booked to play Coachella this year. How could they not follow up? Now the festival just looks stupid and pointless.

lostcausegiveup (January 9, 2012)

perhaps they were worried that the audience would be blinded.... with science....

Skibz777 (January 9, 2012)

See, to me, hinting that someone like Thomas Dolby might be playing Coachella (a pretty sweet match) is akin to saying "we got Fugazi to play the festival and all tickets are $8!" or "we're giving free blowjobs and popsicles!", but then when it turns out to be nothing but a rumor, it makes everything else seem like a huge let-down. :-/

'The Golden Age of Wireless' and 'The Flat Earth' > blowjobs and popsicles.

Skibz777 (January 9, 2012)

...then again, I guess the guy with zero sex drive and an aversion to junk food isn't really qualified to make such comparisons.

lostcausegiveup (January 9, 2012)

understood. i just found out Chris De Burgh is coming to Halifax, and if that had turned out to be all talk, i would have been very disappointed.

have you tried Jones Soda company? they make some pretty awesome flavors.

blowjobs & popsicles>Chris De Burgh but not by much

Skibz777 (January 9, 2012)

Of course I know Jones, I've tried almost all of their terrible, terrible holiday flavors. Nothing ruins Christmas faster than years-old ham and green bean soda.

lostcausegiveup (January 9, 2012)

*shudder* i will admit, that sounds like hell on earth. still, i love their green apple. i like the Stewarts Fountain Pop. they make my favorite cream soda, and their black cherry is really good too.

does the turkey and gravy soda really taste like turkey and gravy?

Skibz777 (January 9, 2012)

The Thanksgiving pack was the worst of anything I'd experienced, and I had to pay more than I wanted to for a vintage pack. The turkey and gravy tasted like carbonated salt water. That was the year I didn't give thanks for anything.

lostcausegiveup (January 9, 2012)

jesus, that actually turned my stomach. i definitely won't bother trying to track them down. (i'm an odd soda enthusiast myself)

Skibz777 (January 9, 2012)

You should go ahead. There are a couple of decent ones to be had. It's best to invite your friends over for a party and drink them all together. You'll see some priceless reactions.

lostcausegiveup (January 9, 2012)

well THAT sounds right up my alley. i might have to go ahead and do that. what's the most out-there flavor you've ever had? (outside of those ones)

Skibz777 (January 9, 2012)

I haven't had all of them, but I guess I'd have to go with "Christmas Tree", which is nothing more than slightly minty.

lostcausegiveup (January 9, 2012)

sounds drinkable, but Sprite had a minty offshoot, and it wasn't very good. carbonated mint just isn't a good time.

baronvonfuckyoustien (January 9, 2012)

what about blow jobs from mouths after they ate popsicles?

Skibz777 (January 9, 2012)

If I had any desire to dip my wick into ice-cold flesh, I'd just raid a mortuary for a girlfriend. I was mostly implying that one could enjoy a delicious popsicle (of the flavor of their choice) while receiving a delicious blowjob (from the gender of their choice)...that sounds like the better alternative, though I guess if you're feeling charitable, you can share said popsicle...

hayman (January 9, 2012)

Which bands do you want to see? This seems a lot like Big Day Out over here.
Good day for scenster kids but that's about it.

Skibz777 (January 9, 2012)

Basically just the older bands that I've yet to see live; ones that would probably be cheaper to catch at an expensive festival than seeing them all individually: fIREHOSE, At the Drive-In, Andrew Bird, Radiohead, Pulp, GY!BE, Greg Ginn, Madness...the older bands, mostly. I'd also probably be interested in seeing the Tim Armstrong/Jimmy Cliff set.

hayman (January 9, 2012)

Good times, go for it then. I'd be up for seeing GY!BE, Madness and Greg Ginn for sure.
ATDI can get stuffed for all I care after Sydney in 2001. Bunch of pretentious babies.
You're right about seeing the bands in one place, I've just got no time for ATDI or Refused.

Cos (January 9, 2012)

Coachella stopped selling single day passes years ago, so you don't even have that option.

Skibz777 (January 9, 2012)

Really? I wasn't aware. That kind of sucks...

johnnyz77 (January 10, 2012)

does coachella come out with dvd's for each festival? if so, this one might be good to purchase. but not worth going to. 300 is a lot of dough. sunday's line up is real weak.

Portulaca (January 9, 2012)

What? Coachella couldn't get Jack Johnson to play?

MN_DrNick (January 9, 2012)

I hope you meant this Jack Johnson: http://theinfosphere.org/images/thumb/a/a5/Jack_Johnson.png/225px -Jack_Johnson.png

mill83 (January 13, 2012)

Or this one: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/d0/Jack_Joh nson.JPG/200px-Jack_Johnson.JPG

Blackbelt (January 9, 2012)

wow this is so awesome

EchosMyron (January 9, 2012)

Coachella's million-dollar offer was not refused.

ProdigalSon75 (January 9, 2012)

tim armstrong is a liar
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zsc5BcYiBBk

dancinshoes (January 9, 2012)

How does that make him sound like a liar? Rancid ain't playing Coachella.
On this vid he say Rancid was banned from performing at Coachella because their crowd was deemed ''too rowdy''.

Tim's backing Jimmy Cliff to support his new EP he made with him, I don't expect many circle pits during a Jimmy Cliff set...

PdxtopH (January 9, 2012)

Scumbag Refused.

Atdi announces reunion; refused does too.

LAR (January 9, 2012)

Refused is the inflection point when punk went from being rad to awful screamo noise. The line in the sand is this atrocious band and to me Refused will always be fucking dead.

hayman (January 9, 2012)

I like you.

vischypunt (January 10, 2012)

I enjoy your brutal honesty

fox82 (January 10, 2012)

You speak the truth.

snooger (January 12, 2012)

Y'all suck dicks

LAR (January 13, 2012)

snooger (great name, loser), that's an ironic insult coming from the fan of an ultra left wing band. Leave this site.

Dedricthere (April 21, 2012)

Finally, Thank you !

lostcausegiveup (January 9, 2012)

watching Wrong Turn 4. (the wife is already in bed) good god, what a gruesome piece of work this is so far.

Skibz777 (January 9, 2012)

If you didn't have the good sense to stop after part 3, then you are indescribably, mind-bogglingly, galactically foolish.

lostcausegiveup (January 9, 2012)

if i start a horror series, i finish it. i'm stubborn like that. and as b-movie slasher flicks go, this series isn't bad. Henry Rollins is in part two!

Skibz777 (January 9, 2012)

The only thing I've learned from that movie is that being inbred apparently grants you superpowers.

God, I wish I had a sister so I can make little Marvel babies with her, then one day they could grow up to kill Henry Rollins for real. I don't even have any issues with Henry Rollins, I just want to be on the news.

lostcausegiveup (January 9, 2012)

..............

the only thing i can think of to say to that is that, if you kill Henry Rollins, you WILL be on the news. (i am a fan, and in no way, shape or form condone murdering Henry Rollins)

also, this song, for your "pleasure".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6eZnMYuVTQ

Skibz777 (January 9, 2012)

Rollins gets a pass from ME for singing the intro to one of my favorite comedies (I think with the Butthole Surfers backing him): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cycjm94kMnk . And that's all I really know him for best, I guess.

However, my horrible inbred children - who, if the 'Wrong Turn' series is to be believed, will be born with superhuman strength and weapon aim - may take their anger out on ANY Black Flag member. They're beyond my control.

lostcausegiveup (January 9, 2012)

i DO like that. did you ever hear Jello Biafras intro to "Americana" by the Offspring? hilarious.

also, they're not so much super-humanly strong, as they have congenital analgesia. (they can't feel pain)

Skibz777 (January 9, 2012)

It was the intro to "Ixnay on the Hombre", actually. The disclaimer, right? Never heard it.

Lacking the ability to feel pain doesn't enable super-strength. Just because that three-fingered chum couldn't feel getting shot in the chest with a shotgun doesn't mean he's able to bounce around with glee for the rest of the movie and following sequels. Plus I don't think there's any congenital disorder which enables perfect aim with a bow and arrow or the force to slice a body in half vertically with one swipe.

lostcausegiveup (January 9, 2012)

goddamnit, i meant to say Ixnay. fail on my part, and apologies. but yeah, it's worth a listen either way.

the bow and arrow is just practice, and the scienti........yeah, i give up. i can't justify it. they're just fun.

Skibz777 (January 10, 2012)

I love me some inbred-themed horror, but the complete disregard for physics and reality bothers me. Remember that infamous 'X-Files' episode "Home"? THAT'S what I wished the 'Wrong Turn' series was more like: more creep and less cartoon violence.

lostcausegiveup (January 10, 2012)

i DO remember that episode. scared the hell out of me back in the day. the gore and nudity are there, but the whole Wrong Turn series is basically "The Hills Have Eyes" in the woods, without the (barely there) atomic allegory.

theproblemwithfire (January 9, 2012)

http://www.mitchclem.com/nothingnice/comics/20111005.jpg

lostcausegiveup (January 9, 2012)

hehe, that's one of my favorites.

hayman (January 9, 2012)

Hahaha

lookingforcorpses (January 9, 2012)

Be great to see a lot of that Shape of Punk to Come stuff, live, esp as all of these guys are probably better players now, and, by all reports, they were actually pretty bad live back then. That being said, and I never use this term, "how's the MASSIVE cash grab treating you??" Talk about a band who should have stayed dead.

misterspike (January 9, 2012)

Firehose!

phhhh (January 10, 2012)

Yes!

Skibz777 (January 10, 2012)

No, fIREHOSE.

misterspike (January 10, 2012)

Exactly.

ShamwowAnnouncer (January 9, 2012)

Did Dennis maybe hear the United Nations song and decide to prove them right?

peheme (January 10, 2012)

I'm really excited for this and the only thought going on in my head is how the hell can I afford the trip. Not a goddamn thought about them being sellout, capitalist, hippie or whatever you guys are calling them. Refused has written golden music. Them wanting to do a show 14 years later doesn't make them opportunists.

vischypunt (January 10, 2012)

So you'll pay $300 + travel to see a 45 minutes set? Different strokes I guess....

lookingforcorpses (January 10, 2012)

Does the somewhere around half a million they're being paid make them capitalists?

discofucker (January 11, 2012)

Half a mil? Prove it.

hubitcherkokov (January 10, 2012)

I like Refused because they're good.

coanca (January 10, 2012)

If playing at Coachella can give them enough money to sponsor a tour in Europe then I'm all for it. As I'm Swedish I was lucky enough to the them several times back in the days and I don't give a shit about what reasons they have for reforming as long as I get to see them again.... If it's for the money then good for them, at least they get paid well for doing what they love to do! You can't say that about a lot of bands of their size...

FredPhelps (January 10, 2012)

They'll be at Way out West in Gotherburg/Sweeden too. Coachella is not gonna be their last show.

mejia (January 10, 2012)

This is good news. I always knew that if At The Drive In or Refused were to do a reunion it would be at coachella, the rumor mill started back in 2007 when Rage Against The Machine decided to do it. For 6 years or so you always heard of the possibilities of Rage Against The Machine, Refused, At The Drive In , Smashing Pumpkins, or Jawbreaker to do a reunion set at coachella, i call Jawbreaker next.

johnnyz77 (January 10, 2012)

Jawbreaker and Jets to Brazil reunions would be nice.

Bastard_squad (January 10, 2012)

No. They wouldn't. Let them stay gone.
Sometimes dead is betta

discofucker (January 11, 2012)

You don't wanna go down that road.

lookingforcorpses (January 10, 2012)

Not to mention, Jawbreaker wouldn't get the money or create the interest these other 2 would.

eatdogs (January 10, 2012)

holy F*ckin' SH*T!!! that lineup is awesome!!! is this the year that Schuyler makes a trip back to Coachella??? My gosh i've been waiting for such an awesome lineup to appear there. And it looks like i have two different weekends to choose from!!!

i'm excited, yet hurting now. I'm going to Toas for a ski trip this February. How am i to go to Coachella???

wentz_equals_death (January 10, 2012)

sell some more stocks and bonds or something

eatdogs (January 10, 2012)

naw dude, i gotta start with the little stuff like donating plasma or something. i tried doing that for concert tickets one time...

thismikeisapipebomb (January 10, 2012)

your name is Schuyler?

oldturds (January 10, 2012)

i instantly think of http://pwned.nl/ everytime i think of refused. they're cool, but i've never really been too into them. i was much more a fan of atdi, who i also just can't deal with too much nowadays.

ToddRundgren (January 10, 2012)

Agreed. I listen to ATDI today and I think "this shit kind of sucks and its responsible for a lot of awful bands". My 14 year old self would be excited, but that guy sucked.

ToddRundgren (January 10, 2012)

The Promise Ring did the reunion thing right. Have reunion shows randomly at venues and charge $16. They win.

jewbacca (January 10, 2012)

lets hope they practice before the show this time... fucking losers

j-star (January 13, 2012)

At first, I read "Refused refused to reunite at Coachella"...
