The Bouncing Souls record new album at The Blasting Room

According to a recent post on Twitter, Bouncing Souls have wrapped recording their new album at the Blasting Room in Fort Collins, Colorado. The tweet over the weekend states:

They've also posted photos from the studio on their Facebook page. We've previously reported about the band's announcement of the new record here. It was also recently reported that they will be appearing at this year's Bamboozle. The new album will be the follow-up to 2010's Ghosts on the Boardwalk.

Yipee!! more of the same song they've been writing for the past 20 years......more overrated than the Ergs! were....and that's REALLY overrated.......these guys can't play for dick, dude has a boring voice, and every single song is EXACTLY the same....do yourselves a favor and go buy the new Lady Gaga album....at least there's some dynamics on there....drink up....and i don't mean alcohol

Well I like them, a lot, I wich more bands could project the same values and goodness.
So go make some more posts of stuff you hate or can't stand, see if we care.
But I think that's kind of sad.
Try to be and live life more positively, take a cue from the Souls' lyrics.
Keep up the niceness.

Yay! I don't expect it to be up to their old standards, no, but it's one of my favourite bands cooking up at least a couple of great new songs. Can't complain.

I would actually guess less than 90%. I'll give PunkNews the benefit of the doubt, there's actually some pretty good bands that come in and out of here. Whether or not they're *better* than Rush, I'm not sure. I mean, Fucked Up put out a damn good record last year, but it's certainly no 'Permanent Waves'. Heck, I don't even think it's a 'Power Windows'.

And Rush make fantastic songs. You're likely confusing them with their fellow Canadian proggish hard rock band Saga, whose appeal I simply don't get at all.

I saw Whole Wheat Bread live once (as a support act, of course)...I wasn't impressed. Neil Peart is far more ghetto than anyone in that band. He drives a BMW motorcycle. And don't even get me started on Alex and Geddy's wine collection.

Hahaha, I'd never heard of Saga. Just looked them up and I'm not impressed!
To be honest I don't know a lot of Rush. I know "The Spirit of Radio" from way back when but that was a radio song.
I guess there's a lot of punk bands that are a lot more talented than the songs give away.

It's interesting how Saga is huge in Europe yet virtually unheard of in their home continent. I guess that's true of a lot of bands, though. Personally, I think their music sounds incredibly dated in the '80s, which is saying a lot considering my insane passion for '80s music, especially '80s prog, which tends to be the most dated and cheesiest of all. But I digress.

Rush make great songs, but they obviously aren't a "singles" band, and that throws people off. Thus is the crutch of all progressive rock bands (though I haven't classified Rush as such since 1978). It's more about craft than accessibility. Some of their late-'80s work is a bit poppier, but not wholly representative of their work.

I have no idea what you meant by the third part, but I'll nod my head like I do.

Well, "huge" for a progressive rock band. Saga recently did a European tour with Marillion, and Marillion was the opener (they usually average 2000-3000 capacity venues headlining) so I have to assume the former has a considerable draw there since they tour mainland Europe all the time. I'm not claiming to be an expert on anything, I'm just calling 'em like I see 'em.

Think Anchors is pretty terrible, with a decent song here or there. Gold is a solid record, but not "great" by any means. I'd include "Summer Vacation," too

How I spent my summer vacation, the gold record and anchors aweigh all had songs I'd consider better than that one.

This is highly likely to be my album of the year.
Regardless of what the majority think (at which I'm still baffled by), "Ghosts On The Boardwalk" is a beautiful album, and I'd say it's in a three-way tie with "Hopeless Romantic" and "Maniacal Laughter" from me.

Every album, every song, by The Bouncing Souls is great (except maybe "Inspection Station"). Honest punk rockers in it for the right reasons, and are also some of the most down-to-earth musicians to boot.

This concludes my love ramblings for The Bouncing Souls. My boner anxiously awaits the album's release, and their return to Chicago.

yeah im hoping they go back to the Gold record style over the Ghosts one. Ghosts had some Ok songs but the gold record was truly fucking GOLD. Fucking Sarah Saturday!!?? Whats a better than that song by another band in the last few years. Give it to me,...NOW. that will tell me what kind of guy/girl you are. Name it!....

As I've never enjoyed the Souls, I haven't heard that song but I feel safe in saying that just about anything released in that time period is better than these turds, but I'll go with Try This at Home by Frank Turner

Ghosts sounded sort of like a full band interpretation of a Greg solo record or something. It was weird, not bad though. Really worried me that they were mellowing out and wouldn't make another good record. But I have faith. Surprised how many people are saying the Souls only have a few good songs or aren't good at all. Although that's probably the cool thing to say these days.
