Media: The Mars Volta: “The Malkin Jewel”

The Mars Volta are streaming the song "The Malkin Jewel" off their forthcoming album Noctourniquet out March 27th, 2012. The new album will be the band's sixth, and their follow-up to 2009's Octahedron.

Agreed . The first Mars Volta record wasn't too terrible, but I just can't get into everything since. ATDI have always been one of my fav's though.

The ceti eel was from Wrath of Khan. I figured if I was going to get ridiculous I might as well throw some red meat to the nerds.

eh, this band. i did like the first record, but then all the other ones just seemed to be 12 minute tracks, with 2 minutes of actual song and the rest just stuff.

So I was finally convinced by someone whose taste I respect(ed) to give Game of Thrones a chance. Bad decision. Man, why the fuck are all these "acclaimed" drama series so full of soap opera, other than it making production cheaper by filling episodes with fluff? The setting is a fucking warlike parallel universe with magic and monsters and 2/3 of screen time is spent on the same bullshit familial and romantic drama you'd find on Guiding Light. So wack.

Hmm...interesting, interesting. It's a lot more stripped down musically (which, to me, is a good thing considering I detested the cacophony of 'Bedlam'), but, believe it or not, it sounds really commercial. Almost like a White Stripes vibe at the start. Definitely got better towards the end, but I can't say I really care much for i...I'll have to hear the album as a whole.
