Good Riddance/Only Crime frontman Russ Rankin has signed up with Paper and Plastick Records to release his solo album. The album, titled Farewell Catalonia, will be released on May 29, 2012. Rankin recorded the album earlier this year at Buzzbomb Sound Labs with engineer Paul Miner.

Rankin said of recording the solo project: "Recording a solo album is completely different than recording with a band. I learned a lot about my strengths and weaknesses both as a songwriter and a guitar player. Watching these songs, which had gestated purely from myself with no collaboration, develop and grow has been an incredible experience."

We recently sat down with Rankin, where he discussed the solo album, in addition to plans for his other bands.
