Blows that they are skipping Detroit. They have had some pretty great shows here so I'd think they would still play here instead of skipping us constantly. I think outside of the Foo Fighters show last year it's been probably 4 or 5 years since they have played Detroit in either incarination
I sort of don't get Mariachi el Bronx. As someone who heard this type of music a lot growing up I genuinely hear a pretty accurate interpretation of Mariachi music. What i don't get is why they are getting a lot of serious attention from American higher culture. They play at prestigious museums, get on large compilations, and are playing at Cinco de Mayo festivals?!?!? I don't want to outright question their "authenticity" but from my understanding i don't think anyone has a real background with mariachi music, yet only THEY get attention from American media while other real Mariachi groups are overlooked. Does anyone know anything about this? or maybe they just have a hell of an agent to do things like that
Of course this is coming to any of the closer places to Indianapolis. Looks like a trip to Chicago! At least I'll have the added bonus of hitting up Hot Dougs...
Goddammit! I've been enduring this mariachi thing for a long time, waiting for an actual BRONX tour, and they fucking skip Pittsburgh. I'm done with this fucking band.Their last album (The Bronx III, because they're REALLY creative when it comes to album titles) was a bland bag of shit. And right after that they dress up like the Chili's house band to exploit a gimmick for 3 years. Thanks guys. So awesome.
