Alkaline Trio to record at the Blasting Room in October

Though they've been dabbling in a variety of side projects, the members of Alkaline Trio are planning to regroup at some point soon to record a new album at the Blasting Room in Ft.Collins, Colorado. In an interview with The Punk Site, Dan Andriano revealed their plans and schedule saying:

We're going to go work with Bill [Stevenson] at Fort Collins at the Blasting Room. Bill and Jason [Livermore]. We've all wanted to work with Bill for a long time and this is kind of the time to do it. So we're going to go hang out there in October. Make a new record.

They released Damnesia in 2011.

That last record This Addiction, after claiming to "return to their roots", was at best a mediocre attempt which really missed miles, and at worst a total scam. No hate, I love Alkaline Trio, but nothing except This Addiction managed to even remotely match my expectation in that record.

As always with this band (since Good Mourning) I will take a wait and see approach. Crimson was OK but Irony and Agony and This Addiction were less than stellar.

Great news! I must be in the minority for liking This Addiction, though the track sequencing was admittedly pretty bad.

Least favourite A3 album is Crimson also, which probably means that I'm REALLY in the minority.

This Addiction - by FAR the worst although had a few good songs.

Agony and Irony has been sitting well with me recently after a year of not listening to it. I used to think Infirmary was overrated, but that also grew on me.

I counted the S/T because Alk3 seems to count it. They play tons of songs from it, as opposed to a real B-sides album like Remains.

I don't know if it's the same thing. They are both a collection of unreleased songs but a lot of S/T was songs written and recorded before they put out an album where as Remains is almost all comp songs and b sides they probably didn't deem worthy for their albums. Don't get me wrong though, here are a bunch of good songs On Remains.

I see him at shows a lot here in L.A. and he always looks ridiculously fucked up.
In fact I was walking next to him as I left Bouncing Souls/Menzingers last Thursday and he looked out of his gourd. I didn't even notice him, I just happened to be crossing the street and I was checking out the two girls he was with and I made eye contact real quick and his pupils were the size of fucking watermelons, I'm telling ya.

100 bucks says they record this album by sending each other mp3 and then letting some bloke mix it all together, never actually writing any songs together in one place. Seems to be the way most bands that are running on fumes (Blink for example) are writing these days.

Most bands don't do albums like that. A lot WRITE like that, but it's not like those bands were sitting in the practice space writing together before, anyway.
