Madness announce ‘Oui, Oui, Si, Si, Ja, Ja, Da, Da’

Madness have announced Oui, Oui, Si, Si, Ja, Ja, Da, Da, the album is due out The record is titled Oui, Oui, Si, Si, Ja, Ja, Da, Da and is due out October 30, 2012 and is the follow up to The Liberty of Norton Folgate from 2009. The band has already premiered a song from the record - "Death of a Rude Boy" - back in August. The new single is "My Girl 2" which will surface soon.

They did a few dates around Cochella, but that's been it for the past few years. No east coast dates at all in recent years.

Really? I could have sworn I heard about an East coast tour, but maybe I'm confusing them with another band.

Either way, I need them to tour again, too; their California shows conflicted with other concerts. They're the only one of the Big 5 of 2-Tone that I've yet to see.

Who did you see instead of Madness? Just wondering 'cause I thought you'd be dying to see them even at the expense of losing 35 dollars by missing a previously paid for show.

Thomas Dolby. It was a tough choice, but I figured Madness would mostly be playing their ska-oriented greatest hits, and I'm far bigger fan of their pop material overall.

I haven't enjoyed any of their later efforts so much.

Stuck on a desert island with one record though, I'd almost certainly have to have their greatest hits.

I thought 'Norton Folgate' was excellent. And while I'll agree (with your assumed implication?) that they were a better singles band than album band, 'The Rise and Fall' is one of the best British albums ever. It's like the '80s equivalent of The Kinks' late-60s concept albums.

A friend of mine really loved Norton Folgate and played it in his car all the time, I could just never get into it.
