Videos: Strung Out / The Swellers: “Justified Black Eye” (No Use for a Name)

While on tour together, members of Strung Out and The Swellers performed a cover of No Use for a Name's "Justified Black Eye." The track comes from 1995's Leche Con Carne and the bands dedicated the song to their late friend, Tony Sly, who passed away in August. Tony's bandmates dissolved the band soon after that.

I saw this in Jax, FL. Strung Out also played Soulmate that with the Swellers. I recorded both.

Way to stand there with your arms crossed, bobbing your head, crowd. What the fuck? I love the dude in the very beginning who kinda gets stoked for a second, and then ends up texting. Sad shit, Vegas. Sad shit.

The Green Day show isn't a good representation of Vegas shows since there aren't many punk kids who could afford the $600 tickets (the crowd were mostly older dudes who left after Bon Jovi played, local celebrities and out of town guests who were comped).

The crowd at this show was going nuts during most of Such Gold's and The Swellers' sets. A lot of those kids left and were replaced by slightly older folks when Strung Out played (folks my age, I guess). I think a lot of kids today (sadly) don't know NUFAN's music so they didn't go as nuts as one might expect.
