AltarTV has posted a video of Converge performing the title track of their latest record, All We Love We Leave Behind. The video also features Converge frontman Jacob Bannon discussing the meaning behind the song.

Me too, then I got a new one.

It's quite remarkable how much you can affect an animal by the way you raise them, as long as their psyche is in check. I don't even remember my old dog (wolf-dog, to be exact) anymore. I'm just happy I'll have ten more years of my new dog.

You're right, but his exact age is 36, which is a LOT younger than what I thought he was (I assumed he was mid to late 40's at this point. Didn't know Converge formed when he was 14).

I'd say he doesn't look nearly as rough as he should.
You know, what with being in Converge for 20 years and all.

How you spend your mid-to-late 20's affects you greatly when you reach your mid-30s and this guy must've had it pretty fucking hard. It does fuck with you to be praised as a god by 0.00001% of mankind, yet having the rest of the world completely disregard you and your craft.

For as much shit as I've given this band over the years, that intro gave me the impression that Bannon's a relatively nice guy. Also, this song is pretty awesome, and I definitely like the new album more than I dislike it. About 2/3 of it already has about a dozen plays from me, while the other 1/3 shall remain unheard-again from here-on-out.

Also, even while shit-talking them, I will say that the one time I saw them (11 years ago... line-up was Converge / American Nightmare / Hope Conspiracy / Thrice... yeah, Thrice played first), they were goddamn awesome live. It's their studio recordings I've never been able to tolerate... until now.

I used to like everything this band did, now I can only listen to "When Forever Comes Crashing," "Unloved and Weeded Out," and "Petitioning the Empty Sky." Everything they do now just... sounds annoying.

1) You think they're relatively nice guys
2) Write pretty awesome songs
3) Like their new output
4) Think they're awesome live

I think you took the wrong thing from his post. It seems like he's coming around to them more and more. He's clearly hated them before, yet he's able to admit a change of heart. He's not just a normal internet-asshole that says "fuck this, fuck you, fuck it, fuck everyone". I definitely respect that.
I don't know, it seems a dumb post like yours is more reason to stay off the internet.

Breaking down your numbered points:
1) He based his "nice guy" comment off the introduction of that video. If he hasn't seen that video before, and hasn't had any other interaction with them personally, how can you fault him for that?
2 and 3) He stated he disliked them before, but still gave their new album a shot, and ended up liking it more than disliking it. How is that being an "awful human being"? You prefer he just shit-talk them without hearing future outputs? You would prefer that he doesn't admit to eventually liking a band he once hated?
4) You've never seen a band live, thought they were good, checked out their studio albums, and didn't like them? I can't name bands off the top of my head, but that's happened to me dozens of times.

Based on the criteria you've established, YOU are the awful human being.

I think you missed my point.

I havn't done that and never will. I've seen bands and disliked their recorded output, yeah, but i've never talked shit about them for over 10 years. Again, that's what I care about. I havn't done that. I'm not as fucking conceded as you have to be to think that my opinion about someone's artistic output matters even slightly.
