NOFX, Teenage Bottlerocket, Elway, and GFP to play benefit for Tony Sly

NOFX, Teenage Bottlerocket, Elway, and G.F.P. will be playing a benefit show for the late Tony Sly of No Use for a Name. The fundraiser will take place December 15 at the Vice Ultra Lounge in Walnut Creek, CA with all proceeds going towards the Tony Sly Memorial Fund.

Rumor is that there is gonna be a NUFAN tribute comp on Fat soon. The fact that in the Q&A OOM said "no comment " shows even more truth to that.

That's what happens when someone dies. The person's family loses a source of income. It sucks but it's what happens. In my community, when someone dies, the neighborhood pools its time and resources and helps that person's family get back on its feet. It's a local thing, which makes it that much more bearable for the family.

Depends entirely on the band, how often they tour, and when they first rose to prominence with FAT or any other label. I imagine a bandslike NUFAN were still able to generate pretty solid income from touring in places like Europe and Asia by having albums distributed there before the industry crashed. European and Asian music fans go out in droves, pay more for tickets and still buy music.

Probably not a lot. But also probably more than I make. And I guarantee you that if I die, nobody's gonna set up a fund for my family.

You're probably right that there won't be a fund set up on the internet, but, as you said yourself, hopefully the people who were a part of your life, or whose lives you touched in some way, would pull together to help your family out.

I didn't know Tony but I guess in a way I felt I was part of the same community. He certainly reached me through his music.

Maybe it isn't logical or maybe it is, but I donated to his fund after he passed away in the hopes his family would be looked after. I know it's strange to say for a guy I never met, but I sure do wish he were still around.
