Tours: Bomb the Music Industry! (eastern US)

It looks like that Bomb the Music Industry!'s recently finished tour wasn't technically their last because they have announced a batch of winter dates of the eastern US. The band are currently touring in support of their latest full-length, Vacation.

Lead singer, Jeff Rosenstock, recently released a solo effort entitled, I Look Like Shit. You can check out the video for "Amen," from the record, here.

They played in Cincy twice last year so I feel lucky I caught those shows. I'm hoping theres a megabus that goes to one of these cities though because all of these dates are at least five hours away and I don't wanna drive that long.

I haven't. I think you guys opened for Joyce Manor and AJJ when they played a couple months ago but I came after you played. Are you the guy who wears the Flaming Tsunamis shirt? I know I've seen that guy at shows a couple times and each time I've seen him he's been wearing the same shirt. I recognized him from a video on Youtube where he's playing a BTMI song acoustically. And of course, in the video, he's wearing the same shirt.

Yup, we did! That show was incredible. And that would be Ben in the Flaming Tsunamis shirt, our trombone player. He does tend to wear that shirt a lot, haha. Yeah, he has a shit ton of covers up on there. Apparently we're playing at Molly Malone's (the Kentucky one, I believe) on the 22nd, if you can make it out.

Dear Jeff,

My name is Marko. I live up here in good ol' Massachusetts. One huge regret I have is not going to that BMTI!/WATU show at the Middle East awhile back. As the non-elected representative of my great city and state, I must ask why there is no date here for the Boston area. Is it due to some of our lame clubs? Do you not enjoy our charming accents? We'd like to know. A bunch of pals and I were excited for the Andrew Jackson show you were going to play; but weather is lame, we understand. However I can not stand by and never ask; it's not my style. Hopefully, this will provide the masses of my fellow state-mates with the answers we crave.

I also told a girl I was you once at a bar and she called me a sellout. Sorry.

Of course punks would dig Unitarian Univeralism: all the liberal self-righteousness but with an even more illogical and disorganized belief system. I'm really kind of disappointed BTMI! would choose to play in and promote such a venue, but while it's neither within my control or even within my jurisdiction to complain, it's still my right to express an opinion. I'll just be waiting for BTMI! to return to the West Coast.

...and with my luck, they'll probably play the UU "church" three blocks down from me. >:[

And yes, I'm aware the "church" is known and respected as an all-ages concert venue (and I'm sure Jeff will try to counter with his iron-clad logic that it's across the street from some half-decent bar), but that's irrelevant. I'd be hesitant to pay money to see a concert in, say, a Scientology church or Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall or the establishment of any similar kind of deranged cult.

And yes, I'm aware I'm generalizing by labeling UU as a "deranged cult"; it may not be dangerous, but it doesn't make it any less stupid and pointless. I've been to a UU meeting, it was absolutely ridiculous. I'd rather debate Mitch Clem on his career or discuss political correctness with John Gentile or argue with Jeff Rosenstock on the finer points of what makes a good concert venue rather than attend another one of those things again.

I'll stick with *sensible* churches from now on, thank you very much, like the Lutheran Chuch-Missouri Synod. *sniff*

And yes, of COURSE that last sentence was sarcasm. Maybe. I'm not exactly sure on the finer points of the LCMS doctrine, but The Skibz doesn't align or bias himself with any particular religious denomination, I treat everything with a critical eye. Jeez, learn how to take a joke, people.

And yes, maybe the Skibz is just pissed off because in the midst of a crisis of faith. He craves a structure and purpose in his life and is currently looking at religion as a possible but not definite solution. Maybe he's just pissed off that he's spent months painstakingly studying nearly every Protestant denomination and the Unitarian Universalists are mocking him by thinking they've got it *all figured out* with their nonsensical hippy-dippy liberal philosophies which, might I add, are in direct contrast to all the teachings they claim to embrace. It's not that simple! It's NEVER that simple! You're just LAZY! You're not a "church", you're a "club" at best! And why does your building look like a barn?! Every time I pass it when driving on Victoria St. it pisses me off! For God's sake, your "church" is in the same parking lot as the "Midnight Muncheez" 24 hour catering service! How the hell am I supposed to take you seriously?! AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, HOW THE HELL DO I GET TO THE 55 FROM PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY?!
