Videos: Erik Griffin (Workaholics) joins Side One Dummy

Erik Griffin, better known for his role as Montez Walker from Comedy Central's "Workaholics," has become the first comedian to sign with Side One Dummy Records. Griffin will be releasing a live stand-up album through the label and is currently hosting a Pledge Music page to raise money for the release.

I feel fairly alone in finding Workaholics to be utterly unfunny. So overhyped. It's just Always Sunny skewed towards younger douchey bro dudes who probably listen to The Story So Far, but with an annoying aspirational show-offy coolness instead of Always Sunny's self-aware sense that the characters are supposed to be dreadful people.

I'm a big fan of both Workaholics and Always Sunny although I'll admit that on occasion both shows can be painfully unfunny. Can anyone else name a single show on tv that is funnier though? Aside from The League, all other comedies blow.

I know it's fallen off quite a bit, but I still think The Office is the best show out there. I haven't seen Workaholics, though, so I can't speak to that.

I still like the Office a lot. I don't know what they're doing with the whole Andy-on-a-boat for 2 month, but it still has its moments.

Sunny stopped being funny whatsoever after season three. It become formulaic and the characters became caricatures of what they used to be. The League is great. Archer is great. Wilfred is great. Community was pretty great before this last season. Parks and Rec is solid. It started weak but is consistently funnier than the Office EVER was.

Curb Your Enthusiasm and Louie?!

I know they're both taking a little break but no other "comedy" out there touches either of those shows. Just my humble opinion.

Curb is good, but Louie isn't really Haha-funny kind of show. I don't even really consider it a comedy program, it's comedy-drama if anything, and while I enjoy the show and appreciate it for what it is, and I and am a huge Louie CK fan, I've rarely laughed out loud watching it

Workaholics is more relatable to college students/recent college graduates.

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia is more relatable to graduate students/people in their mid/late 20s to mid 30s.

I saw a commercial for 'Workaholics' around the time it first came out and I've literally never switched my TV over to Comedy Central since, not even once, not even accidentally, not even for reruns of 'Let's Bowl' or 'Strip Mall'. If this is what the youth of today considers comedys, then go ahead and label me a tragedian.

I will shamefully admit that some of the appeal of the show for me is the fact that I can relate somewhat to the characters; being another twenty-something single male who still can't figure out what I want to do with my life other than drink excessive amounts of beer with my friends and hit on women.

Skibz, I gotta be honest, I felt the same way when I first saw the previews for the show. I was in disbelief that a show could be as absurdly unfunny as this show appeared to be. A friend of mine whose opinion I respect was preaching how good it is, so I decided to watch an episode and was really surprised at how often I was laughing. I'm not saying its amazing or that you'd even like it, but I guarantee it's not nearly as terrible as you think.

Then again, you're jaded as fuck (at least your online persona is, anyway) so there are probably very few things that you find to be enjoyable. That's not supposed to be an insult, by the way. Just an observation.

I'm not jaded! I was merely being facetious. I've tuned into Comedy Central many a time, if only to watch re-runs of 'Mystery Science Theater 3000'. I just don't happen to enjoy this generation's brand of low-brow, cynical humor, that's all, and who could blame me?
