That argument doesn't hold water. Dave Matthews songs are catchy and whether you like him or not (I don't), there's no question that he is very good live. Yet the group think doesn't fap over him.
Dave Matthews songs are NOT catchy, they're shitty. And while they might be extremely proficient at their instruments, I don't think they would be good live. Of course if you were on a message board of dudes that wore ponchos, smoked weed all day, wore socks under their sandals and "just really, really like live music" then there would probably be a lot of fapping over them.
This doesn't make any sense either. It's not about whether you (or I) LIKE them live. The fact that they put a lot of enthusiasm into their live show and, as you claim are "extremely proficient at their instruments" makes them GOOD live whether you or I LIKE it or not. Those are two totally different things. It actually feeds into my argument that just because Masked Intruder is "good" live, has nothing to do with my general like/dislike/indifference of their music.
What this is really about is that I went against the group think (gasp!) and everyone is going to get sand in their cracks.
..and yes I realized from your account and your use of cm that you are from Canada land, it's just that everyone here is talking about how bad the weather is going to be in Bahston.
Oh, I live in Minnesnowta. Never been to Boston yet, actually. We many get some on Sunday, but it's a relatively mild winter here for the 2nd year in a row. The winter of 2009-10 or 2010-11 (I can't remember which) was brutal here.
It's pretty damn beautiful up here, I have to say. I've lived in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI, and I'm from Labrador, so all over this side. Have yet to get to BC.
..and again, no hate for them and I don't think they are bad at all - hell if they were opening for a band I was into, I'd be sure to check them out. I just don't see how the hype got cranked up to such an absurd level.
I always feel like someone didn't let me in on the joke. Just out of the blew people were talking about them all the time. It made me start to wonder if it was established people from other bands in masks.
And you should SEE the "hype machine" too. It's a $250 laptop on a desk about 4 feet from my bed in my 1BR apartment. Clive Davis never had it this good...
Yeah. The hype machine! People heard the songs, checked out the band and loved it. Then they told all their friends. Isn't that how it worked? The RedScare hype machine? Toby updating his web page every 8 months?
The song that got me into them was "How Do I get to You". instrumentally the drums and simple chords will hit you asap with a simple ramonecore style, and if your into ramone-core style of pop-punk then you will pleased with the rest of there songs.
They aren't BAD, I just really don't see how the hype machine got so cranked up on these guys.
