Videos: Big D and the Kids Table: “Best of Them All”

Boston's Big D and the Kids Table have unveiled the video for their latest single, "The Best of Them All." The song comes from their LP For the Damned, the Dumb & the Delirious which was released in 2011 via Side One Dummy Records.

I liked this...but...weren't they a ska band? Am I remembering them completely wrong?

For Pete's sake, they're not The Aquabats; Big D's albums are still predominantly ska-driven. I'm just confused over how someone else can be confused over a ska-punk band recording a straightforward punk song, because apparently that's not something that every ska-punk band ever has done before(?).

This is the first song I've listened to by them in about a decade, so the confusion was with my own memory and whether or not I was thinking of the same band or not. It certainly wasn't with the notion that a ska band would release a non-ska song. Although, now I think Nonska should be a genre of some sort.

It still sounds like something they'd have done 10 years ago. It's not like they completely went outside their stylistic comfort zone. It would be appropriate to ask that of singles like LTJ's "Rest if My Life" or RBF's "Where Have You Been?", but I don't see this one as that big of a leap at all.

This was my least favorite track on the album, to be honest. I'll tout Big D as one of the better bands of their genre today, but this song's style just doesn't suit them.

So they made a DKM-esk song? Boys, you very well know that the Murphy's stopped being relevant or enjoyable a very, very long time ago. You did not need to do this. Also, Baseball Tavern is better then McGreevys. Fuck McGreevys.
