Radio Reds

The Radio Reds have made an announcement through their Facebook page that they have decided to call it a day.

In the last year we had shed a handful of members, turned over replacements and are now at that point once again. It's gotten to where stability is a void, and every time we get ready to move on to new music and touring, we have to rebuild yet again. The Radio Reds book is closing, and we have decided to read the writing on the wall and accept it.

The group goes on to mention that they still have covers to record from their IndieGoGo campaign and plans for an EP in the spring. Their last release was Memory Loss earlier this year.

The Radio Reds came together in early 2011, a natural evolution of Stephen’s acoustic album he recorded on Garageband in a dorm room. It was incredibly organic and truly beautiful how the band came into being, and it became something much bigger than any of us had intended. The band really got legs when Stephen’s brother joined on bass, bringing not only the quality or the art, but also the love in the band to a new level.

We did everything we thought you were supposed to do. Record EP’s, do a split 7", do some touring near and far, and have fun! We are really incredibly lucky to have grown the [way] we did, seen the places we saw and have met such wonderful people here in NC and abroad. It’s incredible that music has brought us so many friends around the country, and even some special ones overseas.

There’s a combination of practicality at play, as well as a loss of energy and an eye on the future.

We can’t thank enough the folks who believe in our music, supported our albums and have shared their lives with us through their friendship. This band owes so much to so many, we know that well. The exciting news is this: we still have a few more cover songs to record for IndieGoGo contributors, and we have 5 or 6 awesome new songs that will get recorded for an EP this spring. We still have a show on January 11th at The Milestone with Ex Friends, and we will schedule our final shows in Greensboro and Charlotte.

Each of our members will likely put on individual statements and thoughts on www.radioreds.com. We are going to clean out our merch stock, so be on the lookout for tons of [free] or dirt cheap stuff coming your way.

WE LOVE YOU ALL, we are so thrilled to be loved by you.
