The nominees for the 2014 JUNO Awards, the prominent annual Canadian music shindig presided over by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, were recently announced and a number of Punknews-familiar acts received nods.

As one might expect the Arcade Fire's Reflektor had multiple mentions, with Tegan and Sara's Closer also appearing in several prominent categories. A.C. Newman of the New Pornographers is up against alt-country wizards The Sadies for Adult Alternative Album of the Year, while The Flatliners and Protest The Hero are facing off in the Metal / Hard Music Album of the Year category. Former Attack In Black vocalist Daniel Romano has also been recognized for this country solo work in the Roots & Traditional Album of the Year category. You can check out the full list of nominees here.

The award ceremony will take place on Sunday, March 30th at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, MB and will be broadcast on the CTV network.
