While speaking at Cheltenham Literature Festival this past weekend, John Lydon mentioned that he feels partly to blame for the death of Sid Vicious. He said:

Sid could not play an instrument and I could not sing. He didn’t stand a chance. His mother was a heroin addict. I feel bad that I brought him into the band, he couldn’t cope at all. I feel a bit responsible for his death. There you are, I have confessed my demons.

He also went on to talk about growing up in a working class family and when he had spinal meningitis, which caused him to be in a coma for four months.
