Landmark punk venue Asbury Lanes has closed down… for the time being. On October 3, 2015, the venue had its last show before undergoing heavy renovations expected to last well into next year.

The building itself will undergo interior and exterior renovations. The building behind it will be re-purposed into a 110 room hotel by the new owners, iStar. iStar spent more than $105 million over the past few years purchasing old bowling alleys.

The reason for the October 3 shutdown was because the lease of the current operators expired at the end of September. Senior Vice President of iStar Brian Cheripka stated, "We're committed to keeping it an iconic music venue." Read more here.
