Spirit's lawyer from Led Zep copyright case suspended from practicing law
by

Francis Malofiy, who represented Spirit's interest in the recent Spirit v. Led Zep copyright case, has been suspended from practicing law for three months. Previously, a suspension was recommended for Malofiy over his conduct in an unrelated Usher copyright case. The three judge panel found that Malofiy tricked co-defendant William Guice into signing an affidavit in that case without revealing that his client, the plaintiff, had an adverse interest to Guice and without recommending to Guice that Guice consult independent counsel. Malofiy was suspended for three months.
