Riverdales Release Details

us that The Riverdales anticipated third album "Phase Three" now has a release date of July 22nd on 1-4-5 Records. The album features 12 tracks of Ramones-inspired tunes, you can see the tracklist by clicking below. The first 250 people to pick up the record on Interpunk get a free autographed poster.

1-4-5 Records recently published a link to Ben Weasel's blog. This may be a more interesting read than others since, well, Ben's literate.

If your band can be described simply by the name of another band, then you need to rethink your musical goals.

I don't think so. The Riverdales know exactly what they're making, they know it's nothing new but they don't care because they're just doing what makes them happy. If people like it then that's a bonus.

Ben is a good writer. The problem is in some of his reasoning. I am in a reasonably well known punk band. At no point in our careers have we ever made much money from selling records. Even the records that have sold well, we don't see much of the profits, and that's if the label owners finally get around to actually paying us for the sales. It has always been that the only way we stay alive is by playing tons of shows, and the money that comes from playing them and selling merchandise. When we come home, we work jobs until we go back on the road. Ben has evidently decided that since he had a great band, that he deserves to live comfortably (about $15,000/year as he said in his book, not really enough to live on) through record sales. He is now learning that that isn't working. This is a job just like any other job. We do it because we love it.

Best news I've heard in a while. I had read they had gotten back together and have been looking forward to hearing the new record ever since. So many bands have ripped them off, but nobody can pull off that sound like they can.

ironic..since theyre just ripping off a band them selves...not taht i dont still love the riverdales though.
