Initial to release new Peter Searcy album

Louisville legend Peter Searcy, formerly of Squirrel Bait and Big Wheel, will be teaming up with Initial Records to release his new full length Couch Songs, in early 2004. The album is entirely acoustic, and was recorded completely in Searcy's home studio.

Squirrel Bait was the precursor to Slint. This guy [and that band] more or less created modern indie/post punk. -Scott

Squirrel Bait was a great band. Like Scott says, O.G. 80's indie rock. I don't know how available it is anymore, but the old comp "The Wailing Ultimate" is pretty much the blueprint of the genre. Squirrel Bait, Dinosaur(pre-Jr.), Naked Raygun, Volcano Suns, Big Black and others. Great stuff.

WOW...i had no clue there was history with this dude.....guess i will have to check out squirrel bait.....i just thought he was some new pop rocker on timebomb records (rip) who had one radio hit....

hahahahahahahaahaha i saw this guy at hard rock cafe in hollywood when i was there on a band trip 3 years ago!!! I thought he was long gone.
