Pitchfork is reporting that Rilo Kiley guitarist Blake Sennett has formed a new band called The Elected. The Elected also contains Rilo Kiley drummer Jason Boesel and Ozma's Daniel Brummel on bass. The band's debut album, Me First, was recorded by Mike Mogis with help from Jimmy Tamborello of Dntel/The Postal Service. Jenny Lewis (Rilo Kiley) and Orenda Fink (Azure Ray, Now It's Overhead) also appear on the disc, which is slated to come out via Sub Pop Records on February 3rd, 2004. Shouldn't that title be "Rilo Kiley/Ozma side project" since Orenda is just appearing on the disc? 1+ Reply

Sub Pop rules! Check out the Shins' new record, "Chutes Too Narrow"! It's even better than the latest New Pornographer's effort!

this is bound to be a classic underground success, along the lines of the postal service. regardless of material and sound, but solely on the artist in the band. 1+ Reply

this might be really good. Jenny Lewis has one of the prettiest voices ever, and all the bands involved are pretty good. i really want to hear "A Time for Emily," so i can make it my favorite song.
